Alright I've had enough of the wasting money and everything else that goes along with smoking. I have made the decision to quit and started Dec 31st(on day 4). I turned 34 years old yesterday(Jan 2nd) and have been a pack a day smoker since I was 16. I often sit back and think about all I would have just from the money I would've saved if I never started. I'm also ready to get into better shape and smoking is the worst thing for someone to do IMO. Its detrimental in so many ways!

Wish me luck in this battle. I'm on day 4 and kickin its azz so far haha. :)

Keep on going, it gets easier everyday. I have been smoke free for about 13 years now, still get that craving once in a while, but it quickly passes......them there smokes are expensive nowadays !!!!

Yeah absolutely insane how expensive they are. I will end up saving more than enough for my truck payment every month. Haha

Good luck, you going cold turkey? That's how I did it 6 years ago, once you're through the 2nd week it's a piece of cake.

One thing is for certain, you'll only quit if you really want to. That first week will really try you, it's the worst part of it but it can be done just don't cave to the crave.

I quit cold turkey two years ago after over 40 years of smoking. There are time when it is still difficult (around smokers), but most of the time I don't even think about it.

I have an electronic cig that I use a couple times a day so far just to keep me outta jail. Haha. But will slowly ween myself off nicotine all together in a couple weeks.

I can already feel a difference in my lungs and head clearing out the nasty stuff in just 4 days. This electric cig doesn't have any of the toxins and tar and chemicals that normal smokes have its just nicotine through water vapor. And I only take a few drags when I start to get really really irritable. Its working great so far.

Good for you! Smart decision and I wish you all the best with your new, healty lifestyle. I lost my Dad at the age of 66 due to issues with his lungs. He had been a lifelong smoker. I hate that my sons were robbed of having their grandfather around.

I have also given myself a little incentive program. Decided I'm gonna set aside the money I would normally spend on smokes and at the end of my first month I'm gonna take that dough and buy myself my first trail cam. Which will be a covert. Shoot I might even have enough for 2. Haha

I'd really recommend buying a box of patches to throw on instead of the e-cig. Half the problem is breaking the oral fixation (feel free to insert :dan: jokes here).

I quit the day before bow season in 2004 after smoking a pack a day for almost 10 years. Haven't touched one since. I used the patch system and it absolutely works. There are still cravings, but not nearly as bad as cold turkey. I had tried and failed the cold turkey method at least three times before trying the patch.

I have tried to quite for many years. I have done cold turkey and eletric cig. They didn't work. I finally boke down and went to the doctor. I was on chantix for 3 weeks and I have been smoke free for the last 5 months and loving it. I like the fax that you can still smoke while still taking it helped out. One side note, it does give you some weird dreams.....

Good for you Remy! I'm in the same boat with you, I'll be 37 this April and I've been smoking for years so I decided to make it a resolution and actually stick to it. Haven't had a smoke since December 31st and going it cold turkey, hopefully I stick with it, I'm tired of smelling like an ashtray and I'm running more again and hope that will clear the lungs out a bit!
