I would appreciate any imput on the quikfletch products from people who have used them. I was curious about them and would like to hear your advice and or comments.
I was just talking about them this morning with my good buddy Dan, who asked the same question. After using them for about a year now I have vowed to never fletch another arrow with jig and glue ever again. I can fletch a dozen arrows with Quikfletches in the manner of a couple minutes. Rip a vane or a wrap? Cut the old one off (which comes off MUCH easier than a standard wrap), and have a new one fletched in minutes. The longest part of the entire process is boiling the water. The only drawback to the Quikfletch is you can't have the cool personalized wraps with your name, college football team, or favorite Backstreet Boy on them. And of course you have to shoot either QuikSpin Speed Hunter or Twister vanes, but is that really a deal breaker? For me, no. And now that you can get super cool Bowhunting.com Quikfletches in 4 different colors, there's really no good excuse to not use them. http://www.bowhunting.com/shopping/Products/Bowhuntingcom-QuikFletch__BH-NQF.aspx
As long as they perform and hold up the lack of color selection won't stop me from trying them. Are you using the twisters or the others? Thanks
I'm using the 2" Speed Hunters, which is what the Bowhunting.com version is printed on. As for durability, I have zero complaints. I've shot them through targets, into the grass/weeds, through animals, etc with no problems at all. The shrink tube material itself is very strong, and the vanes are glued on very well.
Yep, was talking with Justin about them this morning and can't wait to get my Bowhunting.com Quickfletches and give them a try. Like JZ said, I love the idea of not every having to use a jig and glue.
I love the idea of them and have planned on getting some soon. My only question is how do you keep the wrap/vanes in place while you stick it in boiling water? Any kind of run down would be appreciated.... Edit: I read the instructions on NAP's website. I guess my question is do they fit snug onto your arrow already and the boiling water just makes it tighter?
No, they are not snug on your arrow before shrinking. However, they do have a very light coat of adhesive on the inside of the tube. If you put the tube in it's place and press one side into the shaft, it will stay put. What I do is hold the end in place with my thumb as I dip it in. There's a good video here that we shot - http://www.bowhunting.com/gallery/38/media/825/nap-quickfletch-review.aspx
I have used a product similar to them for the last few years. I think the predecessor was Shrink fletch. Which was available in either 4"vanes , 2"blazers and 4 " feathers. I figured I would try them and have been purchasing them since. Now that BH.com has their own, its looking like my next order is thru here
do the vanes shrink together, the same distance apart? Because if they dont it will drastically throw off the arrow flight I would imagine. That is my only concern with them and why I have not boughten them yet..
Yes, they shrink very uniformly and the spacing between vanes hasn't been an issue. I've used them on fat aluminum shafts, standard carbons (Gold Tips) and small diameter Axis shafts with no issues. That was the same concern I had at first, and it has proven to not be a problem at all. As for the WB - works like a charm.
I've been using different versions now for around 2 years and love them. The are very durable, probably moreso than most of the fletchings that I did myself. I shoot a WB and have seen no issues at all.
