Hey guys, so I just picked up my first pro staff recently and I am changing a lot of my gear, Its typically a better deal if you get 12 arrows not Fletcher than 6 fletched arrows. Now my question is using this quick fletch system what should I look for is there anything that is particularaly important when applying these? I shoot black eagle arrow deep impacts as of this upcoming Monday.
I personally don't care from the quick fletch system... I think it has its purpose as in it will save a hunting trip if your in the middle of no where and you can boil water to put fetchings back on your arrows in a pinch.. but they never do seal perfectly on an arrow so I would take the time and just fletch my arrows using normal means if I was home and not on a hunting trip..
I am not a fan of them, I would use them if I needed an emergency repair but they are not durable enough in my opinion. Pretty simple heat the water up and dip them, dip them slow so the air can escape as they shrink.
I'm glad to see someone else has my same opinion I was a little scared saying that with me being the new guy and not knowing how ppl on this site like them.
Never compromise your principals because you are concerned what others will type on the internet. The only problem I have with them is the durability,no performance issues as far as flight that I have seen.
I was an archery tech for a few years and I didn't mean as iN I would.change my opinion I just thought I was going to catch some slack for having it... I find they do not last as you said but also have a tendency to cause extra noise I don't care for as well... nothing beats just old time fletching jobs... I mean I still prefer feathers over today's fletchins as well lol
I keep arrows around about a dozen or so practice arrows and once I get 4 arrows that need new fletchings I bring them to the bowshop to get refletched. Been a while I shoot at different circles every shot now so I tend not to bang up enough arrows to justify doing it myself.
You must be a member on that "OTHER" forum where everyone speaks with the authority of a god, and would strike you with lightning bolts if they had them in their quiver. Half of them would insist that it be tipped with a Rage, while the other half would be divided on whether it would open in flight or fail to deploy on impact. On this site we might just get a little sarcastic, but in general we are pretty nice. (Except for the guy who called me an idiot and said I have cooties. I DO NOT have cooties!
Ha ha.... yep exactly... although they are very popular and their followers are like a cult I won't ever equip my arrows with a rage or similar design broadhead... I owned a tracking dog and let's just say I tracked way to many rage hits plus the penetration of a rage or any rear deploying head will never out perform other designs
Do me a favor when you spend all that time with the tracking dogs looking for rage hits ask the shooter what their arrow weight is? I know what a Rage can do with a heavy arrow and a bow turned up to 11 so to say a rage is the failure in the equasion is BS. Granted they quit making the titanium but that head could handle some bone.
And it starts... LOL I never said they don't make big holes... WHEN they do work and hit in the right place on an animal but I mean lets face it I could technically kill a deer with a field point if it hits in the EXACT right position.. People shoot broadheads to do as much damage as they can for when the shot goes WRONG and isn't exactly perfect.. with that being said its proven in video after video and science that a rear deploying head will not and can not get as much penetration as an over the top broadhead design does such as a grim reaper or rocket... Then there is the statement about a HEAVY arrow is better.. well that may be right on some things but on kinetic energy the math I can show you proves that to be FALSE!!!!!!!!! what a heavy arrow does do is give you a quieter shot but it does NOT make it have a significant gain in kinetic energy to make a difference.. Lets give some math so I can prove what I'm talking about... a 350 grain arrow shooting 310 fps will give you 74.611 lbs of KE a 400 grain arrow shooting 290 fps will give you 74.622 lbs of KE So your saying that .011 lbs of KE is enough to make me shoot a heavier arrow seems to me that isn't enough to make a diddly squat on penetration... and I shoot a 365 grain arrow at 322 fps NEVER had one ounce of penetration issues and have blown through BOTH not just one but BOTH front shoulders on deer with NO PROBLEM shooting a rocket broadhead! i'm getting 83.95 lbs of KE on my setup btw... and I have shot a rage broadhead to watch it just go half way into a deer and STOP...
I love the quick fletch wraps with the twister vanes, wrap all of my arrows with them, just wrapped some of mine up in the USA design.
Nothing special in installing them other than holding your index finger on the end of the wrap as you start to insert into water. This will keep the wrap from trying to slip forward.
I've been using them for several years now with zero issues. I'd probably never go back to fletching. I did find that the Bohning with blazers performed better than the quick-fletch did with my setup. Blessings.........Pastorjim
Neat idea but easier to just pack my Arizona EZ-fletch, some spare feathers, and a bottle of super glue in my bag. I could re-fletch a dozen arrows sitting in a tree if I had too. I did use the quick fletch once before I went to feathers I had no issues with them performance or otherwise.
I've used them for 4 or 5 years now and haven't had the issues some have. Best to easy them into the water. I usually do a 3 second count when dipping them to allow for all the air to escape.
I'm thinking about getting some quick fletch but was a little bit concerned about how they would perform but it seems like you guys that are using them aren't having any issues so I may give them a round
