I am thinking about buying a new bow and I was dead set on getting the new Helim until I took a look at the McPherson Monster Series. I have done heavy research on the MR6 and have reviewed its specifications and features many times. I know my personal specifications and skill will allow me to shoot this bow. Furthermore, I would just like to get an owner's opinion on their experience with the MR6. Questions: 1.) How does the bow shoot? Overall shoot-ability? 2.) Are there any negatives about shooting/hunting with the MR6? 3.) Have you run into any problems that may occur with the Dual Cam system? I would greatly appreciate a response...Thanks!
I know many people who have had problems with the limbs being different since it has split limbs therefore twisting the bow and throwing your shot off. Over all its a great bow and I really like mine but its a lot of power built up when you pull that sucker back, just keep that in mind. It tends to like to pull from you.
Monster Mr6 70lb 29.5in draw. Love mine man no problems w/ cams. very fast bow, get it set up right, shoot good heavy arrows and you got a great big game bow. only thing its top heavy to hold. ive got used to it and feel strange to hold another bow. my next bow will be a new Monster!
Would a multi-pin sight work with this bow? Or is it better to use a single pin? I understand that the shot trajectory is so great that it will shoot out to 40 yards with minimal adjustment. I have a G5 XR 4-pin sight for 20,30,40 and an adjustable pin beyond that. Would this sight be okay to use with a bow this fast?
I have my bow set up with a SPOT HOGG SPD7 which is a 7 pin sight, but it all boils down to your own personal preference.
This is a FAST bow, but it ain't quite that fast.... No bow will ever be so fast that you can just put the 40yd. pin on it and it be good for 10-40yds, this is where the "arc" in ARChery comes into play. Even at 375 fps, what you hit at 20, will be 6" low at 40yds. Set it up for 40yds, and you're about 3 1/2" high at 20, that's assuming 375fps, the fastest I can program into OT2. What I've seen of these bows is that they are VERY torquey, have a fast ramp up and fast ramp down on their force-curve, creating VERY little valley, and making them very difficult to quietly let down if the need arises. I watched a kid plug an arrow into the ceiling at a local archery range with one when he was test shooting it, and that was all I needed to see. If you're dead set on the bow, make sure you get STIFF shafted arrows for it, and make sure that you are ready for a bow with minimal valley, and an immediate 60 or 70# right from the first budge of the string, because that's what you're getting in this bow. For some guys, that's what they want, for some others, I've heard lots of disappointments. I've heard lots of "can't tune" issues, and several of the ones I saw were too weak of an arrow spine, but the limb issue has come into play at a few of them as well.
