Okay so I have watched multiple videos where after the deer has been shot the hunter often waits till it gets dark or until morning to go out and follow the blood trail. I was wondering why they wait so long and why they don't go out and look for it sooner?

Many deer are shot close to dark anyway. Most hunters wait at least an hr before looking to track depending on how good the shot is. You can tell by seeing if you got a full pass through and if the arrow smells like and what the blood looks like

Depending on the shot, you may need to let a deer lay up to 8hrs before taking up the trail. Otherwise you might bump the deer, in which case your likelihood of recovering the deer drops drastically.
