I am not a hunter, but please bare with me. I have a question for serious hunters. My father and uncles did hunt, but with guns. I do not have a problem with hunting, but I also don't know anything about hunting with a bow. I recently had a conversation with my nephew. Until that conversation, my experience from observing and talking to the deer hunters in my family: you make a clean kill, if possible. You track a wounded animal within an hour, and always put a wounded animal out of it's misery. You field dress the deer, by removing the internal orgins, and then let it bleed out............and remove your kill at that time. But according to my nephew traditionally you leave the deer to bleed out, and look for it the following day. Is there a difference in a deer killed with a bow and a deer killed with a gun. Is it humane to leave a wounded animal to die slowly, and isn't leaving the animal to bleed out a risk of; the meat could possibly be bad. and also what about other animals in the area, won't they destroy the deers body and meat? I really don't understand this? I would be so greatful for anyone willing to explain this "traditional" hunting method, so I understand it. You may being asking yourself why I am going to this kind of effort to find out..............well to be honest, I guess I want to be sure I'm not a total moron, and because if I was incorrect, I would like to know, to educate myself about this form of hunting.

Every one has their own methods. I dont really see the reason to wait an entire day for find your animal. Only reason i would come back the next day is if i was beat tired at midnight looking for my deer. Leave em lay for a couple of hours if that. 30 mins maybe. Trouble is if you go right after an animal that has been shot is every time you get close they may get up and run more. Making it harder to track. Let em lay and die and the search will be alot shorter.

Deer shot in the Heart/liver/lungs die as humanely as possible. If shot placement is done correctly they can be found dead as early as a 1/2 hour some sooner.
