If I wanted to start setting up my own arrows, how much would the aporoximate start up cost for all the tools be? What all would I need? And is there any extremely important info I should know? In the past Ive just had my pro shop set them up for me but with me getting more and more interested in all aspects of archery I would like to learn more about arrows and be able to make my own. Any input would be much apptietiated Thanks
Bitzenburger Dial-O-Fletch $80 Flex Bond glue $10 Acetone (cleaner) $8 Vanes Flex Fletch FFP360 $12/doz arrows (or $34/117 vanes) 3M pad www.southshorearcherysupply.com is where I get mine.
You can make your own cutter for about $35-40 cheaper jig or OK used one $35 squaring tool. make your own from a block of steel or aluminum http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1311307&highlight=squaring+tool about 3/4 of the page down you will see a pic
Cheap fletching jig=$30 Fletchtite glue for inserts=$7 Superglue or whatever glue for feathers/vanes=$3 So maybe $40 plus your arrows, nocks, inserts, whatever else. BUT, if you need to cut your arrows you will need a high speed saw/or specialized blade which might run you $40-$200 depending on what you need. I am a cheapo and use a tube cutter for my aliminum arrows and it works like a charm. Not expensive. After 1-2 seasons you will have saved yourself the start up costs plus you can play around with your set-ups by cutting your arrows, manipulating the tip weight, etc which is a lot of fun.
