So was jus wondering what kind of experiences anybody has had trying to get neighbors on board with wat u were trying to manage deer herd. I hunt about a 400 acre farm and there are a lot of nice deer showing up and some good up and comers. Now I really don't care that much about growing huge 200" deer but would like to be able to harvest good mature deer but on same hand meat for the freezer is jus fine. Two of the properties have sold and the closest one is leased to out of staters, which would prolly be lost cause. The only concern I have with the one is the previous owner apparently didn't know his property and had stands hanging on ground I hunt and one other he didn't own, so not sure if the new owner was told all that was part of his property he purchased. Basically jus wanting advice on how to approach someone and don't want to piss anyone off. Anyway thanks guys. Oh and jus to be clear I don't own the farm I hunt its a close friends but I do prettyuch have free reign and as long as don't shoot one of his 100 head of cattle he doesn't care what I do.
I would build a resume, or portfolio of sorts. Build your case stating your beliefs and goals then present it in a friendly and easy to grasp fashion.
^UM ok? I think I would hurry up and shoot a big fellow and go around to all of your neighbors and say this is what happens when you let the small ones go. As far as the unwanted deer stands go I would simply take them down and put them on the otheside of the property line. easy come easy go then I would hang no hunting signs up near where you left them lay (but on your side of the line) What I've also done in the past and will continue to do so is purchase some cheap throw away blaze orange vest and wrap them around a tree up in the air about 50 yards from the deer stands that way is looks like someone else is there. I did this a couple of years ago and the deer stand was taken down the following year. I don't mind pissing neighbors off who don't mind pissing me off. Make sure your friend is ok with you removing the stands first, or you could just take them to your friends house and leave them there.
Ha ha thanks for the advice guys. I pretty much agree with jus moving the stands or jus taking them. And my friend doesn't care either way he told me jus to go sit in them so that's not really a problem. But guess see what happens.
