So As Late bow season is here, Deer are mostly looking for food now, And I was wondering, If I put out a corn pile, When do you guys think the deer will regularly come in? I know they won't come in the first night right away, But maybe a week later they will make it a routine? (Yes, It is legal in Wisconsin to put 2 Gals of corn out)
Put out a big pile and they will come in more of its just a small pile they will come.in just not as often i put 300 lbs out and try and keep 200 out they found both of mine this year within 24 hrs
If I can afford it, I carry in 200lbs to each property once a week. The most important thing to remember when baiting or running cameras..do it where it is convenient for you...the deer will come. Just be smart and keep your scent and pressure down. I like to hunt the same day I put it out just because I know they can hear me bringing it in, therefore, when they smell me, they think it's from earlier. Give it a shot and see what happens.
Do you have a camera close by? You might have a raccoon problem. They will eat on a pile of corn all night long.
I spread it rather than pile it. That way they are more focused on finding and eating rather than just eating and it seems to keep them less on edge.
Try mixing something with it that has a smell. Get a bag of roasted corn stuff from wallyworld Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
Why is hunting a clover patch you planted different than a corn pile to put down. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
Right? Any food plot is just another food source for deer, Hunting over corn is the same as hunting over a food plot.
It takes them 1-3 days. Add C'Mere Deer corn coat and they will find it sooner. Do not pour corn out in a pile. Spread it out over a 10 yard area. Deer like to browse and it appears more natural. You will get more deer in front of you by doing it this way.
I agree. I forgot to add this. But by spreading your corn over some area, it won't mold as much/as fast nor will they consume as much saving you money and the time they spend there.
No raccoons. A lot of deer come through. My camera went crazy with pictures. I since have placed a feeder there
Throw out a couple bags on a Monday or Tuesday and hunt it that weekend. It doesn't take deer around me but a day or two to find corn and once they do they camp out pretty close by till its gone. Between the coons, birds, and other critters here 200 pounds goes fast.
Put the corn out friday, Put my cam out today, They did come eat it some, but not all of it, I did put out more, So They will come eat soon, Gonna bowhunt it saturday morning/afternoon
I think it depends on what type of native browse they are finding. We use feeders here in Texas regularly but I've found that if there is a big acorn crop they won't start using the feeders until later in the season.
Wisconsin in early December the deer will find it especially now that gun season is over and there isn't a million little corn piles out there.
