I just got into archery a couple of years ago. I was given a used vapor 300 for Christmas, which was really a suprise because I had never even shot a compound bow before. I fell in love with shooting. A year later I traded it in for a Bear Gameover, which was on a closeout deal at a local pro shop. I love it, but I am starting to drool over some of the new bows on the market. Specifically the new Method by Bear. If I like what I got is it worth it to move "up" to improve, or should I just keep working with what I have? I shoot probably about six hours out of the week, at my little makeshift range at home. Once in awhile I go to the proshop and shoot for a couple of hours, (maybe once ever 3 months). I busted my hand pretty badly last year which is how I justified getting the Gameover...(alot less hand shock)..the only justification for getting the "Method" now is that I want it. My current set up took a doe last year, dropped in her tracks. Is there a cure for this obsession, or should I just roll with it and dive in deeper. I'm not a wealthy man, but I love sending arrows downrange to my intended destination.
Its all in personal preference, but i feel i speak for most people on here when i say the urge to upgrade may never cease. I bought the 2012 pse stinger 3G but found myself drooling over the pro-series mdels and i made the mistake of trying a few out, i instanty put the bow on lay-away at my local shop and picked it up two weeks later. i have no regrets in my decision and love shooting my newer bow more than my older one. Maybe try a few see if they are comfortable for you but dont break the bank for an obsession. Its my experience that a newer bow is always going to be in your mind i love the new DNA but i cant justify the purchase for a few more fps. If you get a higher end bow something newer it can last years and youll be satisfied for all those years. alot of people will upgrade every 3-4 years some every year. It really boils down to what you're looking to accomplish in the long run and if a new bow is fiesable for you at this time. Good Luck!
Everyone likes getting the latest and greatest. I think with the ease of setup of bows these days you can pick up a bow and have it dialed in in just an hour or so. I think if you have the urge and the means to do it then I see nothing wrong with it. On a side note I would post this in the bowhunting section not the introduction section. Not sure why all of a sudden everyone is posting stuff here. You won't get the views or responses in this section of the forums.
You are right...its an unfair question to ask the people on this forum to make up my mind for me. Kinda like asking a room full of crack heads if I should buy some crack. A better question would be if anyone has suggestions for other bows to look at around the same price range. What drew me to the Gameover was the smooth draw, no hand shock, quiet, and
great let off. The Method, (by manufacturing ads and specs) seems to match the same criteria. I posted here because I haven't posted much to this site yet, and I am definitely new to the archery game.
Try out any of the PSE's with the DC Cam i.e Vendetta, Drive, or revenge. They are Smoking smooth, fast, quiet and next to no hand shock you wont be disappointed. Not to mention these bows are top quality with a working mans price tag
I bought a bow recently and I've been fighting the urge to upgrade, the thing is you will never get over seeing and wanting something new. The only thing you can tell yourself is that, in 3-4 years there will be faster/smoother/forgiving bows and then it will all be worth the money.
Combat..you make alot of sense. I'll think on the upgrade later. Hopefully we will have a spring someday, and I'll have a little more money to work with then. Until then...I will dream, window shop, and start playing at the local pro shop and trying out the new stuff out there. Thanks guys, I appreciate your time.
