I'm debating getting a cape and having the Buck I shot this year mounted since I can now afford it.

I for the life of me cannot find the tag, I know I still have it but cannot locate it. Can you get replacement tags? I may be able to find the leg tag out in the garage, does it have to be the head tag?

    Ugh, this kinda sucks lol

I would think you can get another tag if can't find the other one. Thought I heard there's something your supposed to get if you find a skull with antlers so I'm assuming that would be something similar to what you would need if nothing else.

Not 100% that such a tag os even used in Illinois though. If nothing else would think your taxidetmist would be able to point you in right direction.

It used to be that some taxidermists would allow you to sign a waiver that said you took the animal legally and then you could still drop it off at the taxidermists without the tag. Also, if you had the leg tag, that should work just fine.

Worst case scenario, you should be able to get some sort of verification from the DNR that the deer was taken legally. They do have access to your harvest report and tag #.

That's what I was thinking, but having the thought at 6pm on Friday didn't help in hopes of calling to find out.

Thanks for the responses. I'll probably call the taxi in the morning if I don't try to shed hunt(newb), with the past season I can't imagine him not taking one in.
