How did you choose your church or did your church choose you?

    Let me explain something..

The family has been going to the same little church for fives years..We like the church the pastor and the people.. We are fulfilled spiritually for the most part..
They are a bible based church the pastor talks of nothing but the bible, which is not a bad thing BTW..
There is still something missing there is a lot going in the world but our pastor, deacons and elders refuse to speak on these things...I have talked to them about this and I can see the fear in their eyes, they tell me that is not what church is for........And they are wrong...

I want a church with a true teacher one that not only teaches the gospels but is not afraid..

To get an idea what I am referring to look up the "Black Robe Regiment" of pastors..This is what I want but far too many are fearful of the the Gov and losing a few parishioners.. They need to stop worrying about things like their tax exempt status and start preaching boldly...

We go to a church that is filled with the Holy Spirit and has a passion to see people be pushed to deeper relationships with Chirst. It is a bigger church but has a small church atmosphere. The pastor does Gods agenda not people's agenda and he doesn't care if people get offended. The church also has a bunch of small groups, one being an outdoorsmen group, which my dad and I have plugged into.

Paul said ha had learned to preach Christ and Him crucified....why do you need more?

The only thing that can change people spiritually is Christ... You can hammer the homosexual agenda, the pro choice agenda, etc...none of that will change people...the Love of Crist alone will....

    HERE IS THE PLEDGE

I believe that the overall condition of the nation is a direct reflection of the overall condition of God's people, and I accept that the pulpit is most responsible for the overall moral strength or decadence of the country.

I believe that God's inspired Word equips us for every issue that arises in life, including not only spiritual but also temporal ones (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:3).

“Mighty men they were, of iron nerve and strong hand and unblanched cheek and heart of flame. God needed not reeds shaken by the wind, nor men clothed in soft raiment [Matthew 11:7-8], but heroes of hardihood and lofty courage. . . And such were the sons of the mighty who responded to the Divine call.”

In short, I pledge myself to be a faithful and courageous member of the National Black Robe Regiment. I will fearlessly proclaim God's perspective on all issues, whether spiritual or temporal, and extend the knowledge and application of His principles from my pulpit.

Today, the struggle is for the heart and soul of America. Never before has there been such openly orchestrated frontal attacks against America’s core beliefs, including traditional morality, public religious expressions, the rights of conscience, inalienable rights, common-sense economics, and limited constitutional government. An American Revolution, not with guns, but with the same pastoral fervor and leadership is needed today.

Will you join the National Black Robe Regiment and be a catalyst for righteous change in America?

    A brief history..

    The Black Robe Regiment.....

arose from the pulpits across the colonies during the Revolutionary War. The movement had its beginnings with Reverend Peter Muhlenberg in 1776 concluding his Sunday sermon by declaring, "In the language of the Holy Writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away. There is a time to fight, and that time is now coming!" Muhlenberg then removed his black robe revealing a full military uniform. Marching to the rear of his church he declared, "Who among you is with me?" On that day 300 men from his congregation stood up and joined Muhlenberg in the fight for liberty.

It is in that spirit that we have created this site. The time has come again that our church leaders must stand up and defend the values, freedoms, and liberties that our founding fathers fought and died for.

This forum, and our associated website resource at The Black Robe Regiment - Home, is a place where concerned Christians can network and discuss strategies for engaging the Body of Christ to take action. Our silence over the past decades has equaled consent. We must now stand up and come together and take action. America is engaged in a spiritual battle that has manifested itself in the political realm. We need revival and a return to the Godly foundations upon which our forefathers built our Republic, and start the process of inviting God back into our governmental, judicial, and educational systems. This must begin on the cellular level--first within our own heart, then within our family, within our Church, and finally to all aspects of our worldly lives.

Please use this forum to share with your peers here on ways to educate, motivate, and activate the Christian community. Use the resources of The Black Robe Regiment - Home to educate yourself as to the historical position and duty that the Church must take in these perilous times. This site will only be relevant and useful with your support. If you have ideas or resources please share them with the forum so others might use them to reach out to their brothers and sisters. Please be sure to join your state group and network with others in your local area.

We must restore the rightful place of God in our worldly existence and acknowledge that our founding fathers fully intended that our Republic be a moral and righteous nation founded in Biblical precepts and adherence first to God's will.

    God Bless!

Of course they have....the Bible says the entire world will....and it is..

What makes you think you can change all the above? You have to give the Gospel by the leadership of the Holy Spirit....vote for those that hold our values, raise our children up Biblically.....keep ourselves in fellowship with God,,..listen to that still small voice and be used of God to witness of what Jesus did on the cross for all and his resurrection.....

The church today spend way to much time fighting issues and not the devil.....issues are the biggest smokescreen of all

in my opinion you need to get out there and visit many different churches and talk to friends in your area that attend different churches. This is really the only way to find a church family that you might be looking for. Also pray for God to provide you wisdom and guidance in finding the correct church.

I am very proud that every Mother's and Father's day, since I can remember, my grandparents have always won the award for most children and grandchildren in attendance. Even more so since nobody comes specially for that day. Every Sunday we roll 19 deep into church, then all meet up after for lunch.
This doesn't come without some work though. We used to go to our local church but the pastor left and was replaced by someone that was not active in the community. He did not visit people in the hospital, did not go to events, did not try and reach out, but mostly, did not call on families in need. The congregation quickly fell apart. Sadly, 9 years later the church has yet to recover.

So the search was one. We met with ministers, visited most all churches in the area and finally found one we liked. As we grow in the church it has only gotten better. Even when my daughter just broke her arm, our minister came and sat with us in the hospital. When my aunt passed, guess who was there. Not just the bad either... he regularly goes to my kid's games and other members of the church as well.

Some of the reasons we chose were due to the outreach they partake in. It's a larger church and they do a ton in the community. The people of the congregation are great. I have never seen anything that I would consider negative. I only wish I had more money so I could help them do more.

Lastly the preaching itself. It is religious based of course, but not just about the bible. It's more about integrating life into the teachings of the bible. Ways to be a good Christian, husband, father, mother, community member... again, based on bible lessons.

To find religious happiness, you need a chruch that fits you. One should not dread Sunday mornings and getting up should not be a chore.

lastly, I'm confused. Are you just looking for a chruch to promote the black robe regiment or a chruch your family fits (may be both, just asking). What if the church that promotes the brr does not fit your style?

I gather that the original poster is in favor of churches and their pastors being more involved in political solutions.

But didn't Jesus say "render unto Caesar...?" This phrase refers, of course, explicitly to the question about paying taxes. But St. Paul, in the 13tth chapter of his letter to the Romans directs Christians to be obedient to earthly authority.

I'm not a Christian, as you might gather from my sig, so the rules for behavior that I follow are those set down by my ancestors. For Christians, the commandments from the Bible are bound up with the spiritual side of religion. But I think the New Testament makes it clear that Christian beliefs and practices are not linked to government or politics, nor should they be. Just my interpretation.
