Seems like I end up always liking the cams that everyone else hates. First it was the Cuddeeback, and now the M80. So for all you guys that hate the M80, what cam would you buy instead that is in the same price range, and has all the same features that the M80 has? The big one being video with sound.

Video with audio (while a neat option) isn't a deal breaker for me.

    DLC Covert all the way.

Well Darren, you know I have an M80 and while I don't hate it, it's not my favorite. It works as it should but there are a few things I don't like about it. First of all the flash is so bright that it will wash out anything close to it. I also think the night videos are grainy. If you are using the unit strictly for inventory then it is more than adequate. For me, I am always after the best pics or videos I can get so that is why I say it isn't my favorite. The things I like about it are the day vids and pics and I also love the video with audio. I also like the compact size and the ease of use. All in all I would rate it a slightly above average camera for it's price. I would give it a 6.5 out of 10.

    Blessings.......Pastorjim

I would just prefer to spend $130 on a camera that worked. My M80 never worked right out the box!

I have 3, they work just as they are supposed to and I am more than happy with them, considering I got them from less than $100 each.

There was a firmware update that improved the performance of these cameras, and I feel that many of the "Haters" (that actually owned one) never did the update. I was in an argument the other day about trigger speed. I was quoted that the DLC had a trigger speed of 1.2(from their website), and after the update, the M80 has a documented 1.62(independent review). I haven't found an independent review on the DLC, so I can't verify if it truely even has a 1.2 trigger speed, but even if it does, I just don't see that there is that much difference in them w. less than a half second difference.

I've owned a Stealth "Unit" cam before I bought my M80's and can say that the M80's out performed that camera hands down, especially in quality since my "Unit" quite working after about 3 weeks out in the woods.

I made a thread about the M-80 awhile ago... I absolutely love mine. But there is quite a crowd of dudes that dont like. I personally dont stick to one brand of camera. I have steath cam, cuddeback (they suck), and a primos which is OK. But im interested in the DLC Covert camera as well as LTL Acorn cameras... But i have to say, for $120, im happy with my camera.

Spypoint or Covert model depends on setup and targets and on possibility of theft

Own Stealth, Moutrie (variety including M-80) and Covert. I don't mind the M-80 for the price, but I would buy the Covert time and time again. In talking with major sports shop/retailer they stated that M-80's are very hit or miss in their functioning out of the box. One guy will buy 10 and they all work flawlessly and get good reviews and another guy will buy 10 and have to bring 8 back before they hit the woods with them because they are not operating correctly. In speaking with them they indicated issues with the memory card being the biggest concern. Aside from the fact I am very pleased with the level of customer support provided by Covert.

The Firmware update corrects the issues w. the cards. If you are using a name brand card, the camera works fine with them.
