I have bow hunted a little but, but always with a hand me down bow. anyone have any suggestions on what would be a good first time purchase for me? looking for something in under 800, but also something that will work for me as i progress as well so i don't have to replace it after a year or two. thanks in advance.
You have a great budget to work with. The best advice I can give you is to go visit as many shops and shoot as many bows as you can. You are the only one that can decide which bow is best for you. And any bow that you purchase at a shop will be just fine when it comes to hunting and killing game. As long as you take care of the bow you won't have to upgrade or replace it till you want to and not because you have to! Good luck in your search!
Is the 800$ for the bow alone, or is that for a complete setup? The pse bowmadness xs was a great starter bow for me. Lots of room for adjustments and easy on the wallet. But, to each his own, before you decide you need to go shoot a lot of different ones and see how they feel. The right bow will pick you, and once that happens the price usually gets thrown our the window. You'll have to have it once you find "the one!"
As everyone else said, the best thing to do is try out different bows. One good beginner bow is the Bowtech Assassin. Its fully adjustable, and it comes with a R.A.K. package.
if i were you i would start out with a cheaper bow package, there are very affordable ones under 600 and around 400 dollars from bear, pse, and martin archery so check out some of those online, you`ll find one to suit what your lookin for im sure
my friend is also just starting out bowhuntng and he got a bowtech assassin and tricked it out, the thing is like shooting a gun, lazer and fast, great bow
