One of the local farmers left thousand pounds of soybean out of the pod on the side of the road. So now I'm riding around with a truck bed full of soybean seeds. Can I treat it like corn and throw it on the ground for deer to eat? Or would it only be good for planting next years crop

Yes you can use it for deer feed.
You can try planting them but depending on how much exposure they have gotten to the elements they may not grow very well. I grew non GMO beans last year and saved my own seed for this year, I saved about 700 bushel but they are stored in a hopper bottom grain bin. I did the same thing with Milo....we'll see how well they produce in year two. I'm sick and tired of dealing with stewardship agreements and spending $50K/year in seed...call me cheap.
