Hey Guys, I'm new to the Forum. Anybody know a good brand of fixed blade broadheads that fly and penetrate well. I'v been looking at the nap razorcaps. Any suggestions?

Shot NAP Thunderheads for years and switched to Muzzy's last year. Next year, I'll be back to the Thunderheads. By far the sharpest broadhead I have ever seen.

Funny you say that. I had a bear hunter in camp last fall that had 3 arrows laying there with Montecs on them. I picked them each up and felt the blades....dull as hell. I made a comment about them being his practice heads. He said, "no brand new." I was about to tell him that there was no way I was going to let him use them to bear hunt when he told me that he had to sharpen them yet. I found it funny that he had to sharpen them, straight out of the box.

If I'm going to pay that much for a head, it better be damn sharp.....which the Montecs most definately are not.

My family uses the slick trick 4 blades and love them. They put big holes in animals.

here is a good video showing the strength of the broadheads and how well they penatrate. It's a little extreme, but that's not always a bad thing.

I've been using slick tricks lately....and have had great success with magnus, muzzy, and thunderheads as well.

The G5 Strikers are sharp and have performed great for me the past three years...highly recommended. You can change the blades, which to me is a bonus.

Dan, I have used Muzzy's for years but I am interested in using the Thunderheads next year. I tried the G5's but the blades were horribly dull, so I just did not even use them to hunt.

You are correct, they are sharp and are the only G5 head that I would use.

The first thing you'll notice is how sharp the blades are. NAP does a hell of a job when it comes to blade sharpness and you don't have to pay the rediculous prices that come with the over-hyped, over-marketed other heads out there.

    Dan,

Is the NAP head replaceable blade head? I have a KME sharpener and would like to keep using it but I am interested in these NAP heads. I like the price @ 35 per 6.

Do you just keep one or two heads as practice heads? Do you resharpen?

I replace the blades. The replacement blades are cheap and you will never get the same sharpness if you tried doing it yourself.

So it is a replaceable blade head. Sweet. What do you pay for replaceable blades? I don't think I have seen these blades in the stores I shop. Unless I missed them.

I am under the impression that taking your arrow in and out of the quiver several times dulls your blade somewhat. What do you do about that? (If you agree with that opionion)

They should be sold anywhere that carries Thunderheads. This great site here carries them fo sho! http://www.bowhunting.com/shopping/search.aspx?keyword=Thunderhead

I believe it does dull them somewhat. I usually feel them to see how sharp they are, and replace the blades if they start to get dull.

I shoot the Grim Reaper Hades and love them. They are very sharp out of the package and the are even sharp on the back of the blades. So even if you dont get a pass through with them for some reason they will cut on the way out too. I would recommend them to anyone!

If I wasn't shooting NAP.. I'd be shooting SlickTricks.

I want sharp out of my head. These heads simply have just that.

I don't really have much to compare the slick tricks to, but I know that after having them in and out of a quiver a fair bit of times and shooting them into foam probabaly twenty times they still feel nice and sharp. I'm very anal about the sharpness of my blades and would never shoot a used broadhead at anything other than a coyote. But I feel that you could probably sight your bow in with a slick trick broadhead and safely go hunt deer with it cause it would be that sharp.

Wasp SST Hammers. Not only are they sharp, but they fly better than Thunderheads. At least for me they do.
