Okay so this is probably a really dumb question but I can't figure something out.

I have a Cannon NTSC DC40, When I put the disc in my computer and try to import the files to Windows movie maker I get a message saying the file is not compatible.

you have to import the video films through canons software first (idk why canon did that). The software disc should have been in the box your camera was in. the software should be called video browser. once that's loaded, plug you camera into your computer and put it into video playback mode. you should be given 3 options on the screen of the camera asking where you want to import the films from (internal memory, sd card, or both). choose one and in the video browser software (one the top left corner) click the import button and you should be able to figure it out pretty easily from there. You can edit video files on this software or you can use movie maker. To use movie maker, youll need to transfer all of your video files to an sd card from video browser than load everything into movie maker (they don't like working with each other so its a little bit more work).

there might be an easier way but this is how ive been able to get things working.
