New to messin around with bows. Need some help. Lookin at a Hoyt Fakktor 30 it has the RST cams standard, and after shooting their new Z5 cams, wanted to know what all is involved and difficulty of doin it and if it is at all possible. Also does anyone know about warranties of Hoyt (transferrable?? or only good for original owner )
What do you mean? Every Faktor 30,34,turbo, and Carbon spyder 30,34, and turbo come with Z5 cams. Hoyt doesnt make a cam called an RST.
I'm guessing you are referring to their RKT cam (that's their old cam)... But Nick_P is right... All the 2014 Faktors and Carbon Spiders have the new Z5 cam... Warranty is for the original owner only...
Ok more specifically I found a used 2013 Hoyt Spyder with RKT cam for a good price, but I shot the 2014 Carbon Spyder and loved it. Was thinking of getting it and putting the new cams on it because of the price for the new one. Is it worth it to do it and possible. Also where in SD are u, I'm in Pa now but lived in Hot Springs SD for a few years. wish I would've been into bowhunting then as I am now. What a hidden treasure it is
So are you wanting to put the RKT cams on the new bow or the R5 cams on the old bow? Im confused Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk
Honestly I had a regular spyder 30 and now have the carbon spyder. There is very little difference between the two as far as smooth drawing or anything like that. Yes the Z5 cam is a little smoother but not worth switching out if its even possible IMO
Just my opinion... I don't think it's worth the hassle... Even if it's possible to buy the cams and install them, you may need a custom size set of strings and cables (or other customization to the bow may need to be done) - plus any time you bring in a bow to have it worked on, it's going to be a challenge to get anything done right because none of the spec charts are going to really be completely accurate, etc.... My advice would be to either just buy the used 2013 and shoot as is and enjoy it (it's still a nice bow)..... Or take the money and put it towards buying a new Faktor, then you would have your Z5 cams and the full owners warranty that comes with it.... I hear you on the Z5 cams, it's my favorite Hoyt cam yet! I have lived in both the central part of the state and now the south eastern part of the state.... Hot Springs is a nice area, I don't get out there a ton but always enjoy my time when I do....
