Does anyone have information on the possibility of the caribou season being cancelled in Quebec this year? Jack Hume Adventures posted that it is a possibility, some other sites say that it is cancelled, and some sites don't mention anything. The last time I was caribou hunting (2007) the guide mentioned that they had found a number of bulls that had died from apparent disease. I don't know if that is what is causing this, but it sure seems likely. Terrible shame. Caribou are absolutely beautiful and amazing creatures. Even if we can't hunt them I sure hope that they can recover from whatever is going on up there.
That is horrible. I have hunted caribou near James Bay in Quebec twice and would love to go back. I would go every year if it were possible. The most amazing place I have ever been. Totally unspoiled wilderness with lots of wildlife. We were serenaded to sleep by wolves, saw bears, grouse, ptarmigan, caribou, caught pike and lakers, and watched amazing northern lights displays. Heaven on earth in my opinion.
