Thanks for the suggestions guys. I did end up getting the Badlands Monster fanny pack. I really like it so far and think it will serve the purpose that I got it for.

This past weekend I ended up putting in several miles scouting a new piece of property close to home. I brought the Monster Pack and my new Lone Wolf stand with me for the entire treck so that I could get used to packing it, and also setup the stand and trim out a few trees for stand sites.

After several miles on it now, I really like the pack. I'm not in the greatest shape these days (not terrible but certainly not like I was 5 years ago) but the pack filled with a good 10lbs of junk and the 20lb stand didn't slow me down a bit after many miles of up and down hill. It packs well, stays in place, and certainly will carry all the junk I typically need in the woods. The climber fits on top of the pack well. Only thing I don't really like is that there isn't any good place to attach the Kwikee bracket that I have on my other pack to carry my quiver on the belt strap out of the way. I hate walking with the quiver on the bow in case I end up with a shot while walking in/out, but I don't think any of the good packs out there would have accomodated this. I do wish the pack had a few more pockets, etc inside, but this will work well for this season. I may sell it and try the Predator pack next season, but we will see.

I think you will be pleased with you're purchase. I also have several miles on mine, and still really like it.

I TOTALLY agree about the kwikee bracket! I've been brain storming about that same thing.

FYI for anyone looking into this pack...it is made by Horn Hunter Packs....and can be bought on their website as well.

They seem to get only good reviews, and like badlands...have an unconditional lifetime warranty. I hope to get that deluxe fanny and mainbeam daypack sometime this fall/winter.

Anyone use that black creek pack I linked above sold on bowhunting.com?

Looks like a nice pack at a nice price.

I was looking at that same pack yesterday. Trying to decide if I should get one this year or just stick with the back pack(that I hate) for one more season.

Got a link to the company's website? Even though I already own this pack, I'd like to look at the manufacturer's site itself.. all I came up with was distribution sites...

http://www.sophuntinggear.com/hornhunter.html I think that is their website from what I can tell?

I really really want the droptine fanny pack AND the mainbeam pack. Both would serve perfectly for my needs.

Thanks, Trevor... I'd found that site, but didn't think it was the company that actually made Horn Hunter. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I think I'm going to see if I can buy the shoulder straps to turn my fanny pack into the deluxe version; it's perfect for short whitetail trips, but after hiking so many miles every day up and down canyons elk hunting in Colorado, I saw the need to have the additional support to lessen the load off my back.
