Sure it would. you would just have a different logo on your hat. If you have the right people willing to make a difference (clearly you do) it would get done without the people in Georgia.
I'm not sure how the 501(c)3 part works but if you could get one you could start your own, non corporate chapter call it what ever you want, say Tacklebox Wildlife Unlimited, raise some money and help out without the Corporate BS..
Eh... maybe... I highly doubt that without our Bluestem QDMA chapter bringing all these good folks together in the first place that any of these activities would have ever come to fruition. I think this years hunt will by like our 5th or 6th annual. But maybe, I'd like to think you are right. I can say if tomorrow QDMA completely disbanded we would, without a doubt, carry on. Just not so sure it would have ever started on its own...
This is kinda a lengthy podcast but for those who dont know Randy Newberg is the host fo Fresh Tracks TV and On Your Own Adventures TV, 100% selfguided 100% public land hunting in the western states, and he is insanely involved and knowledgeable in the hunting community. Here he is talking with the founders of the RMEF and how they got that started. For any of you that are seriously thinking about starting something, might be worth it to check it out. Another interesting tid bit Brad... Because I volunteer a lot of my time to QDMA functions I have not paid any membership dues (since my first year) AND I think my membership is "paid" for like another 5 years. For certain events when I volunteer I receive another years free dues. SO I take that money, more likely, that money times 10 and I donate it on a local level to our chapter. An exception to the rule no doubt, BUT I can certainly say I know my dollars are going towards a good cause, right here in KS, to other Kansans, where it matters to me
Correct me if I'm wrong TJ but when you donate money to the local Chapter they have to give a significant percentage of that money to corporate.
I don't believe so Brad, at least not in the way that I donate. For example, the youth hunt. I donate money that I KNOW goes directly to covering the costs of that event.(for example, I personally take the kid who I guide to the processor and write the check, in turn relieving the chapter of those costs) Same with the field day. Now, if I simply wrote a check to my local chapter... yes, perhaps then a portion of those funds get funneled to corp.
Ok gotcha. So it doesn't hit the main books and thus is exempt from the corporate %. That would be a good way to donate for sure.
So check out this level of arrogance. QDMA Forums - View Single Post - Buying the forum Got off the phone with Lindsay Thomas. Couldn't write a big enough check was his response to my question regarding buying the information All information will be gone. Save it now. I asked about the substantial resource the forum provided - he mentioned that the QDMA has those resources. Yea, right, im sure there is any single organization that can provide the real world experience you guys can. I will not support or promote the QDMA from this point forward. In fact I am going to do my best to not buy products which advertise with the QDMA. The word is also going to be spread to our hunting club. Can't write a check big enough? What kind of answer is that?
Are there any more threads worth saving? I mean I know there is a ton of information on there but do you know any specific threads? I can make PDFs pretty fast and easy, it only took like 15 minutes to save those 99 pages yesterday
Here's what QDMA doesn't understand. When someone has a question, they ask it on a forum and get multiple responses to that question. There's no way QDMA can provide that level of knowledge and exact support to people who are trying to do QDM work on their property without the forum. The goal of the QDMA is supposed to be to promote QDM, this clearly isn't their mission any longer. It's pretty sad that they find their best tactics to profit is to destroy information that they didn't even provide in the first place.
My money goes to NRA, Pope & Young & Ducks Unlimited. Does the retarded QDMA/QDM benefit from those organizations?
This is a great post that summarizes everything well. QDMA Forums - View Single Post - QDMA Forum to be Discontinued
It'll be hard to renew when the time comes. There's other conservation groups that could use some more members.
I just converted Paul Knox's Brassica's thread to PDF, it looks like he had a major thread regarding each type of food plot crop so I will try to convert them all. I don't know what the long term plan will be for these threads, if the powers to be don't mind I may convert them one day into a thread here.
