Maybe we can get some more buzz of the habitat forums over here. This is the first place i log into when it comes to internet hunting forums.
I would love to be a part of a habitat and food plot group here like the group they had over at QDMA. Personally, I enjoy food plot work and habitat improvement almost as much as bowhunting.
Fitz to the rescue! I'm not saying overnight we will pull in all QDMA people by posting a few new threads in the foodplot group but I definitely would enjoy some good conversations about it! Im sure the group we have here has expereience that would rival some of the guys they
Hmm, I wonder if I contacted Lindsey if he'd give any details as to why, I imagine it's membership and not wanting to give info away for free as you guys mentioned but the data is well beyond their forum. Data is anywhere and everywhere, shutting down the forum isn't going to prevent it from being leaked.
I know it was there I was being sarcastic, I have multiple threads in there. It seems that alot of those threads die soo fast in that forum.
I will agree with the first point... mag is pretty lame... As for it being the only thing QDMA offers that is worthwhile I have to disagree, at least around here. We have monthly meetings/seminars that provide a TON of info. Guys that devote their time to making it to KDWP meetings to stand up for the things that are important to us. Yearly field days where some of the best land managers and biologists in the country come to spend the day with us covering a plethora of topics... and last but not least the yearly youth hunt. This is hands down one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had the pleasure of participating in. We take children whom otherwise would never have the opportunity, teach them to shoot, educate them on the regs, feed them, spend quality time with them in the woods, and of course take them out to shoot their first deer. All of which is 100% funded by QDMA. Right down to the processing fees. QDMA, an a local chapter level, is all about what YOU and others want to make it to be
I am sure they don't own the server where that data is located. Why would they continue to pay to store the info? So ya, I imagine it will be gone, like gone gone lol
How much of the local chaplet money does the QDMA require to be paid to corporate? Its a lot. That is more of a local effort as you said. Corporate QDMA is a nothing but a money sucking hog. And don't even get me started on how they don't support ANY northern chapters and lie about it. Such as the Minnesota chapters. When the Minnesota guys needed help fighting the MDNR about the season they would just ignore them. Pathetic. The egos at that corporate office are beyond ridiculous.
I am sure the % is high, wouldn't even want to know, and my local chapter definitely does additional things in order to raise monies to help cover expenses of some activities. As for working with state level agencies, no need for the corp guys if you get enough local guys to show up and voice concerns. Don't get me wrong, I fully understand your point and I am probably pretty lucky that we have a really great chapter here locally. I have dealt with a few of the Corp QDMA guys. Most I have spoken with are no different then you or I. We all have to remember at the end of the day....it is a business....
Data is never gone from the Internet. Archives and shared data can always be found with the right keystrokes. I'm in the technology industry, Hillary's Email server was supposedly "gone gone" but the data wasn't, the data is always somewhere.
Ya... but my point was more along the lines of maintaining the data from the forum while not being an active forum yet enabling folks to easily access the info.
