I took my bow into the closest bow shop because I was having trouble tuning my new NAP Capture 360 rest. He said that he wasn't having any luck tuning it either and suggested a drop-away rest. When I picked up the bow, it was equipped with the QAD Ultrarest Hunter. I didn't have time to shoot it when I picked it up and finally got the chance this weekend. The launcher has tape on the left and right vertical arms of the launcher and I noticed that the tape was being pulled back after shooting. I'm not sure how to make any adjustments to the rest because I didn't receive any paperwork with them and the link to the installation instructions on the QAD website is down. It seems that the tension cord is tied into the buss cable similar to a peep sight. I can take it back into the shop, but I was wondering if there are any simple adjustments I could make so I don't have to drive all the way out there. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm shooting Maxima 250s out of an old PSE Sting-ray @ 60 lb.
You might try sliding the control rope for the rest down your cable in 1/16" increments to see if it goes away. It could also be that you are out of tune L/R and you're striking the prong from side motion in the arrow rather than because the rest isn't getting out of the way on time. A third issue could be bounce back since that rest doesn't have the lock down (LD) function that the other QAD rests have. (Bounce back is when the prongs hit the riser and bounce back up into the arrow as it comes over them.) Try putting a piece of stick-on fleece on the riser where the prongs hit.
