I see a ton of people listing these in their signatures! What are the pros and cons of it and how much better is it than a whisker biscuit??

I will start by saying the only con is that it is more expensive than a whisker biscuit. If you're a simplicity fan, you may say a whisker biscuit is better because there are few moving parts. As for pros, the rest drops away as the arrow is fired, making no contact at all with the arrow during the shot. This reduces friction and allows the arrow to fly a truer flight and more consistency. With some other drop away rests, you don't get the same arrow containment before the shot that you do with a whisker biscuit. In other words your arrow can fall off or move around the rest. With the QAD, there is a thumb lever that captures the arrow and contains it much like a whisker biscuit. It will float 1/8" in all directions if you move it around enough, but will be where it needs to be when it's time to shoot.

As noted they key is the arrow "should" never come into contact with anything upon fire. Thus you get a more consistent shot. Although WB are fine rests, you are adding the variable of that rest contacting 98% of your arrow and fletching. Splitting hairs and getting all high-tek redneck? Maybe :) But thats half the fun of archery! I have tried sooo many rests and fell in love with mine in 3 shots.

I've researched it and I think I fell in love and I aint even shot it yet. Yeah $150 is a little steep, but then again. I'm married to my bow Oct 1 to Jan 15th. I can spend a little money on her!:lol:I don't care if its $200, I have to have one by next year for sure. It looks like it works ridiculously smooth.

Once installed properly, you will wonder why you even hesitated :)

It is easy to set up because the company gives you very good instructions. It has a good warranty and it is reassuring to know once you pay for one you can send it back to the factory.

You should be able to pick up a QAD rest for less than 150.00. I think I paid under 100.00 for mine. (mine isn't the hdx)

Just got my QAD Ultra-Rest LD for about $100 and I love it. Definitely wish I would have ponied up the dough originally instead of buying it as a replacement!

When I think about a whisker biscuit I think about what the pro shop told me. Imagine you're sitting in your stand during November or later. It's cold drizzling sleet. It's wet and everything is freezing. You see a deer, you draw back and upon release your arrow shoots through a block of ice cuz the the whisker biscuit is frozen and your arrow flys off line. I think w.b.s are probably great for beginners and also good for practicing but for hunting I think they're inferior to a drop away. IMHO that is. Also I hear people say that they sometimes take off your fletching. I have a drop away but not a QAD. I am going to upgrade to a QAD though when I am done paying off my bow. :tu:

I shoot the HDx pro model in lost camo 139.99$ at scheels. Its smooth, quiet, total clearance, great containment, and is made in america. I dont ever plan on owning another rest. When I buy my wife her mathews Jewel after this season the whisker biscuit will be gone and a QAD will be in its place.

i like the QAD a whole bunch, but not quit enough to take me away from Vital X KazAways. I really find them to be superior in all aspects of the word.

    no luck with qad hdx

Well.......i'm new to this board, been on archery talk for awhile now. But i would have to say i'm not a real big fan of the qad rests. I have the hdx and i'm not real happy with it. I have a mathews mr6 and a 30" draw, i've been to 3 bow shops and i'm still having contact problems with my blazers. Before i spent all that money i asked if the rest was fast enough to drop away and i was told yes
But its not apparently, almost forgot, this is the 2nd rest i've, sent the 1st one back

That is all tuning issue. Can you see on the rest where the contact is? the Fletching should be leaving a line or mark. the rest is definitely fast enough to clear the bow, as I know a couple guys that use that exact set up.

That's odd because I am a 31" Draw and even jacked up to 75lbs on my PSE Stinger I have never had an issue with the QAD

30" and 70 lbs on my z7x. No clearance issues either. I'd find a new proshop not a new rest.

I have two QADs. My first one, was the cheaper model. It sucked. My arrows would actually pass before it completely fell. No adjustable spring or fall away speed. I went out and purchased the higher model, MUCH BETTER. Worth every penny...
