    Hey Guys,

I'm looking to upgrade to the QAD HD rest. I am 100 percent sure that this is the rest I want to go with. However my questions are related to installing it. I want to know the difficulty level on it. I've seen a few tutorials on it and it seems pretty basic. I've never installed an arrow rest before, however I'd like to learn. Has anyone ever done this and what should I watch out for? Also I'm wondering this because my options are to purchase it from the site or have the shop where I got my bow from do it. Usually I wouldn't hesitate going to the shop but every time I have a question on anything the guys there give me the doe in the headlights look. Like why are you asking me that? Or why would you want to know that? Another thing is that I'm looking at the lost camo rest instead of the black and I'm sure the shop would complain if I made them order that specific one instead of taking what they have on the shelf. If any of you guys or girls have had any experience with this sight please feel free to share.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Marauder :tu:

I didn't install mine, but it seems pretty straight forward, my hd rest came with a dvd that shows you how to install and set it up. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I just ordered mine. I figure it's the same price as the shop shipped to me and also I get a few extras from the site. It comes with the dvd instructional video, a decal, and also an SOG knife all for free. Thought it was an added bonus to the rest. :tu:

it's actually pretty straight forward...just make sure the full draw indicator line is matched up when you're at full draw....if it is, tighten clip on timing cord and you're good...for me, i prefer it through the lines instead of the clip...you need a press if you want it through the lines though...

When you buy it at a shop it comes with all of that too and they will usually install it for free.
Now as far as installing it goes.
    1. make sure your center flight is correct.
2.make sure that the nock point and rest in the up position are level.
    3. do not use that little plastic clip to attach the draw cable to the cable of your bow if you know how to tie a half hitch and serve above it.
once you have it on and the draw cable tied make sure that the 2 white lines meet at the full up right position.
But the best advice I can give you is go to the shop near you pay them to put it on if you have not done it before.
you are already in season and you do not want any doubts or issues when you draw back on that bruiser of a buck.

Yeah the video I have watched several times doesn't use the clip. They use a half hitch below the serving to avoid it from slipping up. The best video I have seen is Jesse Draves from Draves archery. I feel with his help, the instructional video, and with the help from you guys I should be able to install the rest successfully. In the event that I feel I shouldn't be monkeying around I'll take it to the shop. Great tips though! Appreciate it :tu:

NO problem. make sure you have the right fork on it for your bow. the one that is pre installed works on most new bows

What do you mean the right fork? My bow is also new, I have a Mission Venture so I don't see a problem with that.

the qud comes with 2 forks/rests the one that is on it will work on the mission venture .
the other fork is deeper in the "v" for more clearence if needed depending on the bow.
Some of the older bows require it.

I understand now. I feel really confident that I'll be able to figure out. Basically at this point I want to work on my bow to understand how it works and such. And also it's the terminology that I need to learn. I'm so lucky to have found this site. I don't know how I made it this far without it. I keep thinking where would I be if I would've found this site 5 years ago!

Right now it would seem we need a little help based on the points but this competition is a marathon not a sprint. lol, Ultimately we will advance to the top. That I am sure of! :tu:

Also the Tomahawk Area is pretty decent. I work on a lot of the lakes in the Minocqua Area. That's great country.
