I wouldn't be able to do it. Standing over your dog with a gun to it's head, no way.

If anything, I'd ask the vet to take time to come over with the injection.

We have the vet come out to our place. Could not shoot my own dog.

I've had to shoot two of my wife's cats after they got into it with a coon that tested positive for rabies. That was no problem. My dogs would be a bit harder but I could do it, probably while bawling like a baby.

I couldn't do it. I would go to the vet and hold her as she passes on.

I've done it and while it does suck I'd rather it be me that has to do it. Growing up in the country it kinda happens. If they get to where they're too old or suffering in any way it sometimes needs to be done.

If I can't bring myself to do it though my grandpa can do it without causing much pain to the dog. All the times I've seen him do it with farm dogs and one of mine they've never twitched or flopped around. I don't know what I'll do when he's gone, guess start using the vet.

I had to put my 12 yo lab down recently due to cancer. No way. It was hard enough taking him to the vet.

I could but... won't. A feral or a mangy stray is a different matter.

No way! Brought my 12 year old lab to be the vet when I got home from Iraq in 2004. Thought no problem, after what I just saw and did a dog is nothing... As the dog was injected and fell over on me I exploded into tears, thinking of how excited the dog was to see me when I came home the day before. Tearing up now. Couldn't imagine shooting my dog unless she had been hit by a car or something.
