Why do I feel like this isn't real? Do people in the state of Oregon not pump their own gas?

I found this humorous when I first read about it, but there's no way the people there are that incompetent... right?

Until recently it was illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon. The comments are real. I saw them in some news articles yesterday.

So did I...just find it so hard to believe. Curious to see what NJ residents would say if it’s changed there, too.

The interesting thing is that for example in NJ where it’s a law to have an attendant you see lower prices that neighboring states who don’t have any paid attendees. Yes taxes vary...however what a i am getting at is don’t expect the cost savings for the companies to be be past along to the consumer.

What a business keeps the profits from a law and does not pass them on, no way:)

My son married a girl from Oregon and now at 38, she has yet to pump gas except when they visit here and I show her where my tanks are to fill her tank. She still has a hard time believing that everyone pumps there own gas.

    Dear Mike Perrone,

If you almost die from pumping gas then I'm pretty sure that's natural selection. Its putting a nozzle in a hole and squeezing a handle.

You sir are a weapons grade fairy.

    Your sincerely

    Everyone

I’ve been to Portland/Eugene area many times for work. It’s like a different planet out there. Beautiful country though. Can’t lie about that. It’s the only other place besides Mexico that I’ve been where you can’t pump your own gas by law. That tells you something

My parents are originally from Oregon and my grandparents lived there their who lives. I went to junior college in Portland for two years. Yes, there really many people there both that ignorant of how to pump gas and stupid enough that those comments are real.

This is not related but I think it is funny.

When I pull into a gas station to refuel my Chevelle, I have to open the trunk to access my fuel cell. To the attendants (inside) it looks like I'm filling my trunk with gasoline. One woman asked me, "You put your gas in the trunk?". I told her yeah that thing burns so much gas that I like to carry around a few spare gallons for later so I don't run out!

It was easier then explaining what a fuel cell is.

Yeah first time I was in Oregon I pulled into a gas station got out and started getting the pump ready. The slugs did not move in the 30 seconds I was sitting in the car finishing up a phone call but as soon as I touched the pump there were two of them swarming you can't pump.

"I had to do it once in California while visiting my brother and almost died doing it. This a service only qualified people should perform"

if you aren't qualified to pump gas you shouldn't be qualified to drive...

People like him get to vote... ridiculous
