Hey folks, my first thread Not sure if this has been asked or posted anywhere else, I couldn't find it so... I'm just wondering if anyone has a pull behind tiller for a ATV? I have a 500 Arctic Cat to pull with. My Dad wants to get a powered pull behind, they look like they are expensive and not sure if I want to do that to him. We have 200 acres in western WI. On the land we have a 20 acre field that hasn't been planted in years. We're trying to get our neighbor to plant it, but its really tough to get down to it with a tractor these days. I also have some other small patches of openness that I would like to plant and also make some in the woods. I saw something from kolpin that just attaches to the back, and also biologic has something like that too. Anyone use these? My dad was looking at a DR power tiller, and another from Agri-something or other for half the price of the DR. Any other unit you guys are using that works great? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Captain
I just talked with my old man and he sold his boat so he said he wants to buy a powered pullbehind trailer type tiller. Anyone know which one is the best?
If you're planning on doing the whole 20 acres, forget the tiller and make a way to get a tractor in there. It's gonna take forever and a day to do that much with an atv. The heavier equipment you pull behind a tractor will do a much better job. What are you planning to plant?
20 acres would take forever with my little tractor. Personally, I'd go with a disc to pull behind an atv vs. a power tiller. To plant most food plots, you just need to break up the surface.
No we're not doing the 20 acre field this year. That is something that I am going to tackle another day. Right now we're looking to plant a 1-2 acre field. I would rather go with a pull behind disc which I think would do a fine job, but my old man is hell bent on getting a powered pull behind tiller. The powered tiller will do just as good of job if not better right? just might take a little bit longer i'm thinking.
As long as the power tiller is working, it will do a really nice job. It's just slower and kind of overkill for a food plot. If he's bent on getting one, you'll be fine. Better to go that route than not get it and never hear the end of how you should have gotten the tiller. Besides, maybe he wants to start a really big garden. LOL.
The "Agri something you mentioned, was probably an AgriFab. In my experience, they have a cheaper product but you get what you pay for with it. Go for the DR out of the two. Honestly if I was in your situation, I'd spend the money on a 3point hitch conversion for your quad and then you have a lot more options. I plant close to 8 acres a year with my quad. I have a one bottom plow that I rigged u and the other main tool that I couldn't do without is a set of spring tooth harrows. I break the ground with the plow and then harrow and then set the harrow lightly to cover.
Yeah I was thinking of getting the DR. I saw something witha 3 point hitch as well. Have you ever seen the one from Kolpin? Is that kind of what your are talking about?
Yeah, I do believe they have a line of four wheeler/4 point hitch attachments, called something like DirtWorks.
Ideally, if I had the extra to spend, I would be after the three point attachment and then a one bottom plow, it took some time, but I plowed my 2.5 acre plot with my home made one bottom. It would have been alot easier if I had the three point hitch deal though. (and easier on my quad)
I ordered the DR tiller today, should be around 2 weeks or so. Ill post some pics or something when I get it.

Great! We're getting spam on the site from China! Personally I wouldn't buy anything mechanical from a place with "Lemon" in their name.:p
