I'll donate this little piece of tidbit to those who so LOVE Walker.

    http://www.postcrescent.com/article...rnor-Scott-Walker-signs-tax-cut-bill-into-law

Pay particular attention to the last 2 paragraphs. He just put you into a hole he now wants YOU to dig out of Wisconsin.

Why would anyone support this politician is beyond me.

Tax-cuts to the rich and business class but rob the education system. Brilliant!

This guy is like Blago.. only Blago stole from more than just the education system. But what pisses me off is we let him do it! Because we were to stupid and torn by the 2-party system to use our brains.. don't do as we did Wisconsin!

No.. I don't live in Wisconsin.. but you CAN get the money elsewhere. Maybe stop lighting up the capital building in green and gold during the Packers super-bowl run.

    Start saving instead of spending!

That's how we do it in my household when times are tight.

So let me get this correct. You want the state of WI to not attract new businesses?

Don't new businesses mean jobs? Why would a new business want to go to a state where they would be taxed heavily when choices abound for other business friendly states like the carolinas or even TN?

Another thing that irks me. I keep hearing over and over, "its for the kids", and "its for education". But where is this money going to help that? All I see around the states I have lived in, is they get money and build new schools or buy computers, or a new gym. But still the kids can't master the reading and writing and math. I would understand if there are 100 kids to a classroom. Which might be the case in WI. But for a new building with AC, I just don't get it. I learned fine in Eastern Ky with no AC, and no basketball court.

Just think a bit about what happens when a state/municipality makes tax concessions to corporations..........v. not making them.

What happens when a worker is hired (for the state/municipality)? What happens when the corporation starts paying property taxes? Payroll taxes (from the get-go)?

Think of what happens to a city's/state's/country's revenues......when an event such as the Olympic games come to town.

    This isn't economics 401.....it's economics 101.

    Gary:

Cite me a state school for children.

Our children go to city and county schools......which operate on city and county tax revenues. If you think the city/county's gonna waive your property taxes, because your kid's in private school.....you're sadly mistaken.

What's the latest on the recall movement for the democratic senators?

I can't imagine their actions NOT constituting a dereliction of duty.

There are groups on both sides trying to get both Democrat and Republican state senators recalled.

+1000. FTR, I can think pretty objective on things without regard to who's side I'm one. I can tell you that if the guys from my side were doing this it would still make me sick. Most people will change their rules based on who is doing it, rather than what they are doing.

Perhaps you didn't get the point of the last 2 paragraphs of the article.. it was about spending through tax-cuts. A policy that never accomplishes anything.

And it's totally fine to attract business to your state (duh).. but spending through the tax-cut isn't really that brilliant is it? You'll obviously just have to steal from someplace else.

And if you're Republican you can't do that by stealing through business or you'll have a short career. After all.. that's what runs that party.

Anyone read the comments below.. some rather smart fella wrote:

"Folks, we've traded one traveling Circus for another ... it's just a matter of who gets OUR money. As it sits, if you've got a household income between $40K and $100K, YOU'RE gonna pay for being mediocre ... you're still unrepresented. Partisan baloney aside ... taking a pay cut (cutting taxes) when you're already bleeding red ink is stupid...plain stupid - but, I've come to expect it from ANY political group that needs to be re-elected. Republicans...you'd better do something flashy and darned quick because there are only so many upper income folks and so many middle income folks stupid enough to believe their schtick more than one election in a row. Then, the other idiots will take control again for two years ... and the vicious cycle continues."

    So true. So.. so true.

Simply for supporting the bill. It's the same type of people that are protesting right now. It's a lot easier and quicker to recall a state sentor than a governor.

Who said anything about a state school? States give money to the public schools. As for your last part, that's what I said. Your property taxes still go to your local school.

You said the public schools would be defunded even more.....if more kids went to private schools.

Where's the rub?......if they have less students?

Schools(here in MI) have what is called "counting day" This is the day schools send how many students they have to the State. The next year the states writes the a check for X based on how many students they had.

So less students = less money,

Generally speaking yes, but it's not directly proportional. One less student and the expenses go down virtually nothing. 25 less students then you don't need a classroom/supplies/teacher/teachers aid.

Germ sounds like you guys have the same system as us. The schools then will complain that isn't enough then hold a city vote to levy people for more, payable when you pay your property tax. Then after people pay the operating levy, they then decide they need a new school and then hold another election for a building levy, payable on same said property tax bill.

I send my kid to private Catholic school, yet I am still required to pay these levies.
