GMMat, reading through this I still do not see your question answered about are unions self funded? The answer is yes, union members pay dues that go into supporting there interests. Germ was right that a contract was signed buy the state and union but any work or lawyers involved on the union side is paid for by the union. Hope this makes sense.

Then why is there an issue with their contract?

Are you saying the taxpayers of Wisc. wouldn't have to foot the bill.....if the contract remained - "as-is"?

If the answer is "yes", then.....the unions aren't self-funded. If they were, we wouldn't be talking about this.

The union supports there members and their contracts. Once a contract is signed than it's a legal contract that should be upheld. What WI wants to do is take the teachers out of the collective bargaining process which is the contract that the state and teachers union negotiate. So yes the tax payers do end up paying the teachers but it has been agreed and signed by both the union and the state.

    So....they're not self-funded.

Well....the gov. works for the people. And, the people can't afford the contract.

What do you suggest they do?

Do what most of the City, County, States do when they need to change. Have the union and the state sit down and try to negotiate out a new or revised contract. This is done often, both parties need to give and take some to make it work.

What's really funny, Gary....is you spouting off to me about being naive about politics.

I think you get the democratic daily 10 talking points.....and think you're "informed". Honestly, that's all I see you post.

I actually have no idea what your last post addresses or means. Maybe I'm naive. Maybe it's simply not cogent.

What's typical, Gary? Calling a spade a spade?

    Guilty.

Too funny again. Like I said before, it's just easier to agree with you and move on.

You don't have to agree with me, Gary (in your case, it's more fun when you don't).

Just don't insult me. When YOU call ME "naive" (speaking politics), you end up looking like this guy.

Jeff I could get your entire political view by downloading Rush's last pod cast to my IPhone. The only difference between you and Rush is you have a way better golf swing and only been married once.

I do not believe the above, just stooping to your level.

Rush? I listen to Rush for the same reason I listen to Howard Stern. I wanna hear what they'll say next. I also watch Chris Matthews for the same reason.

See, I've told you many, many times that I don't always agree with Rush. But, you seem to think it's a pejorative to keep linking me with him. But, I won't say you're naive.

    Rock on.

Can we get back to the employees with the entitlement complex, now?
