Good luck to you sir. Let me know how it works out. I wasn't able to go out last night due to a jason aldean and jake owen concert, but i'll be out today all the way through the weekend.

You can either get as far back away from other humans as you can or you can get into your stand site really early before other hunters start moving the deer around and they will push them to you.

Don't listen to the guys that say walk way in. I have been hunting public land exclusively for 12 years now. I kill racked bucks and big does every year. I stay within 300 yards of the road most of the time. Most hunters walk way in now because that is all they read. I used to walk way in and noticed that I was getting blown at or seen on my way out close to the truck. I sat close to my truck and I killed my first deer on public land. This deer was killed within 350 yards of my truck two years ago. It may not be the largest dear but in North Carolina it is a good public land deer.

My public land here is about 3000 acres, so I go as far back as I can. That's how I almost shot the biggest buck in my life. My bro went really far back and saw a buck a lifetime(double drop tine twelve). That's my main reason. And don't waste your time scouting where everybody else hunts. The deer for some reason will not be where they are, unless there stupid. Its worth the time to walk a little bit farther. Ive had people hunt 60 yds from the parking lot. That's how lazy they are these days. lol

Sometimes the best spots are the ones right next to the parking lot.

Read up on Dan Infalt. He kills slobs every year on heavily hunted public land.

Walking really far is not needed all the time to get somewhere people are not. I got permission from some one to enter state land on their property and the main trail is about 2 miles away. Most of the hunters will be hunting withing a mile of the lot where I will be on the back side waiting or the pushed deer.
