Looking for some feedback on public hunting in Ohio. A buddy and I decided to attempt to do a "do it yourself" bow hunt on public land in Ohio the opening week of bow season. Any advice or tips would be a great help since this is a complete shot in the dark. We are planning on make the trip up there about 3 weeks prior to do some scouting but it would only be a 1 or 2 day scouting trip. What are your thoughts and/or opinions?
Go to Morgan County. Best hunting there ever. There is a place Near this place called "Ohio Power". It's amazing. Last year I couldn't go with my buddies family like I usually do but that got video of some giants 160''+. ITs almost all hardwoods with big valleys and creek beds. Always deer moving and you should each be able to get some pope and young bucks or bigger. My buddy, his brother, and his dad have all taken a buck every year in the last 2 years there and all are over 120''. (2 were shot on there land so 4 out 6 were taken on public land.) And If yo go down there the opening week I'll probably be down there. We proabably won't see eachother so goodluck and shoot a monster.
Thanks for the input! How crowded do the public hunting areas typically get during bow season, mainly the first week?
Where I hunt theres nothing. We go with 10 15 people and our stands are quite far from eachother and we barely see other people. We always have goodluck too.
