Looking at hunting a piece of public land that really gets very little traffic, what do you think.... See link for areas..... http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=40.03297...40.02650,-81.95758,5.0 mi SW of Adamsville OH Point A has stands of tall mature Oaks with some HUGE acorns, bigger nearing 3/4" in diameter. Point B has some nice thick stuff, and opens to the ponds below, not much water in the area, and Point B also has some nice mature Oaks, not as many as Point A, but still has quite a few. Points C and D are another area with plenty of Oaks, and also there is a small corn field right about where the "C" is on the map. I've rarely seen anyone out here, and am looking at giving this area a go this year for something a little different. Pic's to come as I need to get them off my phone.
Looks like a really cool public land spot! Post up some pics with the boundary of the property. Best of luck.
Click Map and Terrain on that link, and you can see the boundaries. For some reason, my computer is being a PAIN and won't let me download the pic's!!! It's real open with pockets of woods, almost reminds me of Wyoming or Eastern Colorado...
I know the area pretty well. I hunt Tri every year. We have a camper about 15 minutes North of here in Wills Creek. Tri as well as AEP land is where I spend most all of my public land hunting time on. I have been through the area of "A" where the public meets the private. I have never been to the "B" area. I have been close to your "C" and "D" but a little further South toward Gilbert road, closer to those fields. I have to say that I have run into extreme pressure many times on Tri lands, but most of that pressure I have run into has been more North toward Coshocton County.
That's been what I've seen, lots of traffic north, but not as much south. A LOT of pressure in the Woodbury area as well, and moderate pressure south of here in Avondale. I'm gonna give it a go and see what I can make of it. Losing more PRIVATE places, puts me in position to start looking public.
Woodbury is a zoo. I have never hunted it and most likely never will. You can hardly find a place to park there once November rolls around. I will be down that way (Tri AEP) some this year, but plan on spending more time in Harrison State Forest this fall. Good luck.
On acme maps (his link)... On the top right hand corner, click the "map" or "terrain" keys and you will be able to see the public lands highlighted in green.
