Thanks everybody! It sure has changed my outlook on hunting public ground. I've scouted before with thoughts of trying, but I just never did. I've always had access to private land, and quite honestly it's easier for me so that has what I've stuck with. All I have to do is throw on my hunting clothes, walk out the back door and head down. I can be to any of my stands in 5 minutes. I know there are additional challenges to hunting public land, but I feel much more confident and look to add public land to my overall hunting plan each year. In fact, I like the idea of challenging myself to becoming a more rounded hunter. Any other hunters out there on the fence about trying public land, I would urge you to give it a shot. You never know what's going to walk under your stand.
