Yikes, this ones getting ugly I have pulled some old ribbon over the years(you know its old when its no longer orange)but as for being aware that I am screwing up anothers hunt ,no, never.
Some times markers can be a good thing .Learn to hunt the hunter know there locations and use it to your advantage to set up on that big buck.
The one that makes me laugh the most are the guys that can carry a full soda in but can,t carry an empty can out.

What, it's a "fact" because you say so? Spare me! You probably use that crap yourself. Here's the real "fact". Littering is illegal! Leaving that crap in the woods IS littering. If YOU want to call it something else that's fine, but it doesn't change the "fact" that it's littering. I pick up litter every time (within reason) I come across it. Wether it's while I'm trout fishing way up in the mountains or deer hunting near home.

I realize that I have NO control of who hunts the same state land that I do, so removing the crap people tie to trees won't prevent "pressure" on this land, as you elude to. I take that stuff away because I don't like having to look at it while I'm going through the woods. If that makes me a "jerk", so be it! But that's your opinion, not a fact. Don't get it twisted.

Well I best not leave a stand out over night or the month of nov. Wouldn't want to be a litter bug. I definetly wouldn't want a "hollier than thou" hunter to pull it thinking I was trashing "his" ground. Lmao.

So, what do you do if someone is sitting in "your" stand on "public" land when you go to use it?

Touche' Not to mention, on the state land I hunt you MUST remove your stand (no permanent stands) after a days hunt. That's why this "jerk" takes down (not steals) ladder stands that don't belong there. These types of RULES are there to avoid confrontations among hunters. If you can't go by the rules, don't go.

Do you really think the guys that are using all the eyes and flagging tape know the woods the way you have described (rhetorical question)? That is why they need it, they don't have the time or interest in learning the woods that well.

In MI if you left it up, they have a legal right to hunt it.

Bruce I would kindly tell it is my stand and I would to hunt it. It has happened, the first time I was 14. I don't use flagging tape for myself I use it for my kids and wife. They don't have any woods skills they both hint under 500 Hydraulics of a logging trail. I mark a trail at the beginning of season and take it down at the end. It is 100% legal here. If you don't like it well I guess you can kiss my rosey red one. Later and good luck when it comes to taking very amatur hunters out in a very large woods.

So, by placing your stand there you are claiming that public area as "yours". I can see why you don't like people removing flagging tape that leads to "your" hunting area on "public" land LOL.

Something you might try with amateur hunters is to teach them woodsmanship instead of which color tape to follow. It's a lot more beneficial for them. It takes more time and effort but I am sure they are worth it.

I am sure it is rosey red for a reason ;) .

OK, I get your point now. That is pretty funny. The thing is, while they might be better off just letting the land funnel them to a spot (afterall that's what it does to the deer) they feel like that is "the tree" and that's why they picked it.

Like I mentioned earlier, I like seeing the trail of tape or eyes, now I know where there is a bunch of scent and pressure to avoid.:D

There was a sign out on the public land that said that if you were hunting in somebody else's stand and the owner showed up, you had to surrender the stand to them 'without a fight'. (rolls eyes)

(The stands had to be marked with the owner's name)

The world is full of jerks and idiots.. it's too bad you can't even get away from them in the woods.

You say you do it to pick up litter?

Man it is your story, tell it however you want.

Oh, and I do not use any trail marker. I can get to every stand that I hunt in the dark without a light or trail markers. However I do know one guy that has low light vision issues (from serving in Afghanistan), so he needs to have some sort of a marked trail, and if some "jerk" removes this he may get really turned around. So go ahead and be that guy.
