Hello all new to traditional shooting and just bought a PSE kingfisher 50 # from a buddy And was wanting to know if it was a descent hunting bow? And any recommendations on arrow choices that shoot good threw a recurve for hunting. Mainly hunting deer and turkeys.
    Thanks for any advice

I'm not familiar with the kingfisher, so I can't really comment about it. If it fits you really well is the main thing.
Are you drawing the bow a full 28" ?? You need to know so you can determine the bows' true weight. It's hard to know the proper arrow spine unless you know the poundage you're drawing. Usually 2-3# for every inch more or less than 28".

Establishing good shooting habits from the very beginning will help a lot.

    Enjoy.. It's great fun.

I have a 29inch draw on my compound 28 on the recurve so it should be right at 50 lbs. Just don't know what arrows to buy for it

What size arrows do you have available from your compound?

A kingfisher will work, but being a bowfishing bow it has solid fiberglass limbs and is much noisier and slower than a wood recurve.

I put the soft side of some sticky Velcro on the groove of the limbs where the string hits and it quited it up a bunch

I have a PSE Long Bow from the 70's or 80's and the thing shoots like new, I am inclined to think anything from PSE is really well made and designed.

I have a Kingfisher that I have set up for what it's intended for....bowfishing. It's loud, heavy, and the limbs are so-so. With a decent string and the proper arrows, there should be no reason why you couldn't kill a deer with it. A .500 spine should tune for your bow...2016 aluminum or a GT 3555
