    Hey guys,

Walked into a bowshop today, tried out the PSE DNA, Vendetta, Matthews Creed, Chill, and the Hoyt Spider.

I like the Matthews Creed the best, had the most even/smooth draw if that makes sense with a good sized valley. I went in there hoping to fall in love with the DNA but it has a large amount of draw weight that needs to be drawn and then there seems to be no valley.

My dilemma is that I liked the Matthews Creed the best, it also had a color scheme that I didnt mind too much. But PSE offers a steep discount to military deployed, im not going to state the discount price as this is something they dont want advertised, but it would make the DNA price similar to a PSE Vendetta at full retail. PSE also does not have a color scheme I like, yes I know that colors won't help me shoot better but it would make me like it more and make me feel cooler.

Do you think if I picked up the DNA and since its my first compound bow, that I would get used to the large amount of initial draw weight and no valley? Or should I shell out a couple extra hundred for the Matthews Creed?

On a different note, I saw the Manufacturer "Prime" had this optifade pattern for their bow, does anyone know if I would be able to get that on any bow I buy?

Its all in what you like. I love the DNA. Of course I'm a PSE and Hoyt guy...lol. I would get what you like best....or you will wish later on you did.

If it was me I would go with the one I liked better. No matter how much I saved I would be kicking myself every time I picked it up wishing I got the other one. If you were talking thousands of dollars different on a car it might be different but an extra couple hundred get the one you will be happier with!

Get the one you want! I would have saved myself a bunch of money and hassle if I had!

Chopayne, I just bought a Prime Shift 29" in Optifade forest (digital camo) I absolutley love how this bow shoots and i thought I'd just walk in and buy one of the 5 mathews bow I tried. I also tried the Hoyt Spider. I never heard of Prime(G5) until that day. my guy Pete at the archery shop asked me if I had my credit card before I tried the "Defy", Because he said I'm going to buy it. I ended up with the Shift. they all shoot great. so do the Mathews. It's up to what you feel comfotable with. Prime is in it for the long haul because they seem to have a good warrenty. also after every 2 yrs.they send you new cables and string (no s#!*)

Rob, same here, I did not hear about the prime bow until today. I was like what the hell is that, I also just read about the string replacement program. Im leaning toward it, I will probably go back to the bow shop and try it out again, it seems like they cant get it off their inventory so theyve made it into a package deal to try and get it off the shelf. I do remember that the draw and everything was not as memorable as how smooth matthews Creed was or how freaking hard it was to pull back the DNA.

Part of the love of a bow comes from looks and to me, PSE does not have the color scheme/pattern or the draw I like. So even though I could get it at a deep discount, I am looking at buying the matthews or the Prime.

Get the one that you liked and felt most comfortable to you. It will save you money in the long run, because if you buy one you don't truly love you most likely will find one down the road and end up buying it. Mathews are built to last my dad just bought the Helim after 15 years with the LX (nothing wrong with it he just wanted a smaller axle to axle bow) so a couple hundred bucks now really isn't to bad considering the bow can last you 15 years or more.

Bootlegger, how or why do you like the way the DNA draws? I seem to seriously shake as I first pull the bow back, then, there is no valley to keep the bow back.

I have only shot one DNA...I Think its more of a personal preference. You gotta remember the Dna is a 70% let off with 6" brace height. Its one fast bow though. My favorite is the PSE Brute X I have for a single cam....but I'm gonna buy the dual cam PSE Hammer this summer. You can get a lighter weight draw on the Dna if you want. I only buy Hoyt and PSE like I said above...I just like them better. Buy what you like the best though...that way you wont be sorry later.

Here is a link to the Hammer I'm gonna get soon.

Yea I know. A lot of people do, I personally don't understand why. I love my bow and I'm not gonna buy another one until I'm forced to or they is a significant change in technology. Why waste a perfectly good bow just so you can have the newest model. Just my opinion.

Yes do this exactly. I learned the hard way a few years back when I bought a bear charge just because it was $100 cheaper than the bear strike when I was happier with the strike but didn't get it because it was a hundred more. Don't make the mistake I did haha you'll highly regret it.

The Defy is an excellent bow. I am impressed with the DNA and the Creed, but im blown away by the Defy. It packs smooth, sexy, and fast all in one package!

Havent necessarily caught the bug, they are just so aesthetically pleasing I can't get over it. Initially I just wanted a good bow, but shoot, the colors are starting to be a large factor. Im going to go back to the archery shop to try the prime though to see how it shoots, I can't remember how the draw and valley were, this shop also seems to have had it for a while so I think ill be able to talk them down on the price even with the added accessories. Ill see if they have the defy but I believe they only had the centroid, atleast thats the one I had on sale.

I also can't decide if im liking the Matthews because im used to a traditional, where the draw is even throughout. I think if the first bow I shot was like the PSE DNA where the poundage is frontloaded, then I would be preferring that. I feel like id grow into whatever bow I buy.

If they have the new PSE Hammer...shoot it! It's sweet! Lot different than the DNA. Remember...get what you like most. So you won't be sorry!

They didn't = \ Just the Vendetta, Brute and DNA. They had a huge selection of Matthews and Hoyt though
