So i bought the muddy safeguard harness a few months ago, and ive read the manual that came with it. However, I just cant exactly figure out what the prusik knot rope is for. Is it for once I'm set in the tree, or on the way up and down? Is it like a linemans rope to help hang the treestand? I mean I cant even figure out how to use the thing. I'd appreciate it if anyone out there who uses this harness or is familiar with this knot system could help me out.
Well I'm familiar with the knot but not the harness. The knot is especially useful because it can be used as a extra safety precaution when climbing up and down a ladder into or out of your treestand. The idea is that the knot can easily slide up and down a rope making it easier to climb up and down, but when a strong downward force is applied the knot will lock up and act as an anchor. This anchor will stop your fall and prevent you from hurting yourself. Now unless muddy supplies you with a safety line as well I'm not sure what they are asking you to do with a Prusik knot. Take some pictures if at all possible that would certainly help. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
The prusik knot is just a adjustable knot that will bite. The belt that comes with this harness uses this to adjust the length of the belt or rope like a linemans pole strap. This can be used when climbing up or down. It also allows you to belt in when hanging a stand. http://www.gomuddy.com/store/mainprod-Safeguard-Harness/811.html The video on this page should be helpful Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
