Maybe there was a cougar directly behind the camera...

I hvae a buck that acts just like him, the only advice I can give is start putting your cameras higher in a tree angled down to keep it out of their line of sight. Every buck is different, he will probably try to skirt this camera now but will still be around.

go black or move them up higher is my opinion also. or put the cam on trails you dont mind changing deer movement.

Cameras really seem to bother some deer.

Red Blob cams on my place will send the bucks running. I've heard folks say they get used to them but not where I hunt.

For the most part deer in my area are somewhat used to them, but almost all bucks over 4 1/2-5yrs prefer Regular flash over IR.

Blackflash cams are the way to go,I am not buying any more red blob cams. Running cams in video mode will show you how deer react to trail cams night or day either from scent you have left behind or just by something being different in the woods just like in hunting the first time in is you best shot at getting the pic or the shot you want.
Red flash ir cams even a subject to flash duration and burst mode that deer will pic off and start avoiding your setups. some cams have much longer flash then others and video will really let the deer pic out the cams.
Some might even say it doesn't bother all deer but thats not the deer i am after.
