For you guys that workout on a regular basis what is a good Protein mix for making
shakes after a workout? I dont want anything with a lot of calories as I am trying to
lose some weight. Just something to drink after each workout everyday.

    Thanks,
    T
Do you drink something before a workout also?

I get whey protein in vanilla. I either mix bananas, strawberries etc and it is real good. The kind I buy has a little less protein than what Jeff uses but it's only 100 calories. I use it for my last meal of the day around 9 or 10 after running.

Morning I use choc whey mix with skim milk and 1/4 cup quaker oats and sometimes a little natural peanut butter. It's good calorie wise to save mix with water to save a little. Otherwise Pure protein bars are good and lite compared to most bars.

Fat free or low fat cottage cheese is a great source for protein also Peak.

They say 15 minutes before a workout and right after are whn you should fuel your body. But to lose weight I workout in the a.m. before I even eat. Then eat after. Your not going to lose weight quickly taking Protein powders when building Muscle. You will loose a little but more of losing fat and gaining muscle. So your weight won't exactly reflect what you wish. Strict diet, good cardio with a little weights will give you quickest results to lose pounds. Muscle burns calories faster. But also weighs more.

reducing body fat %age is really the goal... whether that is by increasing muscle mass thru exercise or using diet to reduce weight and body fat... both of these paths will have the same affect with regard to your body fat percentage and both will help reduce your cholesterol and have other tangible health benefits, not to mention making it easier on your joints and back...

I use Pro Complex before I work out and Optimum Whey after I work out and I use about 2 scoops (50 grams or so) with water to mix it. I also take Casien protien at night before bed because it's a slower digesting protein than Whey and will absorb slowly while I sleep to help with muscle break down over night.

I only buy my supplements thru fitrx.com. I spend a fair amount of money each month and I have found they are one of the best deals and there local.

Tony, My personal favorite is 50 grams Strawberrie whey, 1/2 cup of plain oats, and 6 natural almonds mixed with 1% milk.

the less grams from fat that is in the protein the more you will pay for it. EAS is the only one approved by the NFL for our guys to take. FDA has NO and i mean NO rules for supplemts and what goes in them and the responsibility to say on the label. get ready to get your wallet out though... i would only use for maybe a shake in the morn and at night. i would rely on my diet for all the protein needed. then just suplement with shakes. 1gram for every pound of body weight per day. but be carfull... if you arent using up the calories.... going straight to your tummy and you'll be working counter productive. you may also wanna look into a "recovery" style drink. something that rebuilds the muscle quicker so that you are sore for less time and can lift harder sooner. sorry to rant but PM me and i'll break it all down for you!!!!!!!!

I agree with Isaiah. Your body needs food more than it needs the supplements but thats why they call them supplements. They are there to help with a controlled diet.

Jeff, I had to laugh at myself when I read your reply at work today. I am one of the idiots who forget about doing anything other than what the directions say. Low and behold, if I take 2 scoops I have the same protein as yours. Oh well if we cannot laugh at ourselves who can we laugh at...

I would suggest eating after the workout instead of drinking a shake. Carbs are also important in the recovery process along with protein. Shakes in the morning or evening as a snack like others suggested is a good idea.
