What Is out there to use to protect the Inside of the box of a truck bed? I plan on hauling some wood with my new truck but I don't want to beat on the box too much. I've ruined other pick up boxes before. I'm not about to ruin this one. I don't want nothing plastic, that's too slippery. Thanks In advance.
I've always had a spray in liner. But if you throw something heavy in to hard, it will still dent the bed. I've had my current truck for exactly 1 year, but haven't done anything to the bed yet. A bunch of scratches in the bed don't bother me. Though, I may get it sprayed soon.
Menards has a do it yourself application liner that you roll on but I cant think of the name of it for the life of me. My brother used it with great success. I will get back to you and hey also send me a text I need your num again lol Thanks It's like the same stuff Line-x uses. Its kind of like the following link: http://www.jcwhitney.com/truck-guard-roll-on-bed-liner/p2022592.jcwx?filterid=j2#
I have rhino liner in my truck. I have managed to put a couple of dings and gouges in it... but I haul lots of not nice stuff. Like tons of rock... generators that get dragged in and out of the bed. Barrels dead fish. (fish are soft, barrels with rocks stuck to the bottom of them are not...) Fence posts, cinder blocks... Anyhow, it has really held up wonderfully. The bed of my truck is likely to be the only thing still worth anything the way things are going. :D
I seen some stuff one time at a farm expo... the guy molded a cinder block with it, I honestly don't think it would dent the bed, I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, but there may be a very high quality spray on out there that will won't dent your bed. Most places you can choose between rough and smooth finishes. IMO stay away from DIY roll ons, my buddy did it to his truck, sanded bed, primed, everything, it already shows chips and signs of wear.
I've had Rhino spray on liners for the last 11 years on 3 different trucks. I think it's the best one out there and has the most grip. It also kills a lot of road noise. Will probably have it in all of my trucks.
My ol mans truck has Line-X, and it has held up really good so far. His is a city truck though, so no torture tests by any means. My truck on the other hand....
I used to have all our co. construction pickup beds sprayed with Line-X spray in liner. Will it protect your bed? Well.......define protect. It won't stop it from getting dented. And, you can't take it off. So....what have you done? My current truck has tools in the bed 24/7. There's plenty of stuff back there. But, one thing I never worry about is stuff sliding around (it has a drop-in liner. My truck is 8yrs old. I've had the liner out (in the last year). The bed, underneath, looks new. All that being said, I use an undercover tonneau on my truck. If I didn't (and my bed was exposed), I'd still prefer the line-x. If I didn't use my bed, I'd prefer the line-x. I think it looks better (for some weird reason). I also know guys who use line-x type spray ins AND a bed mat. I've seen guys use a drop in liner AND a bed mat. If I were gonna line-x it.....I sure wouldn't worry about damaging my bed with some fire wood. I'd use the hell out of it for a while and THEN have it sprayed. What's the difference?
My truck has Line-X and I've been super happy with it. I've had it in my truck for 2 years now and still looks like it was just sprayed in.
I had Line-X sprayed in my truck 4 1/2 years ago when I got it, and it looks just as good as when they first sprayed it in. I like it b/c it does help prevent things from sliding around, and also helps protect from all of the wonderful salt we put on our roads here in IL. I had a drop-in liner before and hated it. Not only did stuff slide all over the place, but dirt, debris, salt, etc worked its way under the liner and got trapped, which just promotes rust and corrosion. 2 years ago I had a Lund cap put on my truck and without question it was the greatest thing I ever did. I leave stuff in the bed of my truck I could never do before, and keep it locked up as well. I don't think I could ever own another pickup without a cap on it.
I've had 2 trucks with bed liners and 1 with a spray on Rhino Lining. The good part about the Rhino is nothing slides. Thats also the bad part when you are unloading something heavy. I'd consider getting a bed mat if you are worried about dents.
i have wood in the back of my current truck. cut so that the wheel wells can fit, a bit pitch patch i know but it has worked for me. take em' out every so often and sweep it out with a push broom. i have a cap on it as well my new truck..... think im gonna do the spray in bed liner then a mat on top of that... then throw a cap on it before hunting season starts. gotta make sure your cap is wired for inside lights too! oh and dont for get to take the bulb outta your light on the back of your cab... you'll blind yourself at night.
just talked to the guys at northwest truck world and they convinced me not to get the spray-in.... cause im getting a cap for it, plus dont want the bottom of my clam ice shack all scratched up......
