I have just purchased my second trail camera, Bushnell HD (good deal on Amazon). And being that this camera is a little more expensive then others. I was wondering what you guys and gals use to protect your cameras from trespassers and other hunters. I have an Cuddeback that is a few years old that I have bolted to a tree in a metal box. So what are your strategy to keeping your cameras out of the hands of thieves. Please let me know, I am sure this information will help others as well.

    Thanks and Happy Hunting

I use the Moultrie M80 Cams, and I use the steel boxes that bolt to the tree as well. I also use a cable that I run around the tree, bring it back to the front of the steel box and lock the padlock through the cable and box.

Other than setting claymore mines with trip wires all around your cameras, if they want it bad enough, they are going to get it. Nothing will stop a determined thief except a well placed bullet to the brain. You could set a hidden camera up high where they can't easily see it to cover your other camera. If they steal your main camera, you'll have photo's to show law enforcement to try to apprehend them.

i bought a 4 ft ladder just to hang my cameras, i am 6ft tall so that makes my camera around 10ft up....

i tilt them down to get all the view i need of the deer coming and going...they also have the cable wrap around the tree and

lockd, so if somebody would happen to look up and see it, they still are going to have to get somethin to stand on

and cut the cable too... hopen that its not worth the effort, for the last two yrs i have been safe....just another idea

to think about, good luck russ

Good call on the elevated cams. I also do this. I carry 1 single lone wolf stick with me when I check/hang my cams so that I can get them elevated.

I have all my cams in steel lock boxes, lagged to the tree with a heavy duty padlock. But nothing is 100% theft proof. If they really want it, they will find a way to get it. The only thing all those precautions do is keep an honest man honest.

    Blessings.........Pastorjim

Python lock and put it about 8 ft off the ground using screw in steps. Make sure the tree is at least 10 inches around so it would be hard for someone to cut the tree down as well
