Tis the season and a fear I have, explosions. Not sure where I read this, may have been Out Door News. Hunter found dead after his blind heater exploded taking our two more stored canisters as well. Apparent second of the season.
They are very popular, we all have the buddy heaters. We keep ours stored on cases and check them thoroughly but one flaw in the tank connection, your done. So hunting, warming a garage, ice fishing always remember they are potential bombs.

I've never had any issues with mine but there are plenty to be seen out there with buddy heaters. Plenty of people start their portables on fire ice fishing with them the way it seems. I've also witnessed how the majority of people take care of their things so it's not too surprising it happens as often as it does.

The guy was 81, I can see a possible hook up error. We all need reminding of the things we take for granted.

Used gas camping stoves and a Mr. Heater for years. Have LP gas range in the kitchen and LP gas heater in the den.Caution and common sense rule.

Sign in gift shop- When looking for a gas leak, move a lighted match along the gas line. When you hear a loud noise, you have found the leak.

I was down at my parents grilling dinner. The grill is a built in runs on natural gas. I got the meat done and I turned the grill on high to burn it all off. I went out and was going to close the gas supply valve, when I opened the door to access the valve all the gas that had been leaking ignited. I got lucky only half of one leg was all blistered. Glad it was me, if it had been my elderly Mom it would have killed her. The gas line from the salt air broke down the gas line. I am still a little jumpy around that grill.

Never was a fan of a gas heater. Read so many horrifying deaths over the years.

The closest one was a man named “Tom Seitz”. He was @ the time of his death, America’s premier shotgun trap gun choke gunsmith. He also designed a trap gun called the Seitz. It used a plunger as the hammer. He was a great guy. Really treated me great, done a magnificent job choking my Perazzi TMX and a few barrels for my brother.

He and his kid were hunting, flame I guess blew out ? And they both were gassed to death while in their sleep.

Me and my family immediately abandoned gas heaters after that. I won’t use one, period. It’s not the fire, I use a BBQ propane grill, it’s the silent death as you sleep.

    Always be forewarned on gas.
