Jim, we have 500 watt halogen housings. Just whatever Menards had on sale. We have 225 watt 'ultra' bulbs in them. (brighter than the 300 watt bulbs but takes less juice.) K did wire on/off switches to each one because it was handy for the way the boat used to be set up. When we passed other boats or campsites we would shut-off the lights on one side so as to not completely blind the people in them. Some people are kind of weird about staring right at the lights and then saying 'damn, that's bright!' I think they're not a whole lot smarter than moths. We're going to take the switches off the lights and instead have them wired into a control box that we can get to from the deck. Another project for another day.
Christine, how far are you from the Illinois River? I was wondering when it goes down. Last year I went down end of May and it was real high and we were driving around trees like in the pics. In fact, we went by a tree stand and I could have stepped out onto it from the boat?!?!?! Is there a website or someplace that has the river level? Nice boat too.
The launch at Pekin is about 30 miles away. The river was real high last Spring so I know what you mean about being in the trees. In those pictures we're actually in a lake that is joins the IL River during flood levels. Here's the USACE river and lake level webpage: http://mvs-wc.mvs.usace.army.mil/dresriv.html You can see some spots on the IL River are below flood stage while two are currently above.
Thanks, I have book marked that. We are surely going back this summer. I had more fun in just 4 hours than I have had in a long time. I can not wait.
Awaiting her tourney debut since the re-fit. C with her big carp My grinnel... They don't look like much here, but they have the most impressive teeth... These have some great teeth too! With only 5 hours fishing out of a 12 hours tournament, we were able to take tenth place out of 29 teams. Needless to say we were pretty happy about that.
the fantoon is an awsome looking boat....i liek the picture with the gun o nthe steering stick that was pretty funny
