I hate to admit it but I watched a little of the probowl. They were not even tackling it has become unwatchable and a waste of time. Not sure what they can change to make it better but something needs to change.
I think they should just do away with it all together. Players that are recognized as All-Pro don't get a trip and play in a game and that is a much more prestigious award.
Its not like you are even seeing the best players. The best players are in the Superbowl and/or recovering from injuries.
I am about as big as NFL fan as they come but I don't even make it a point to watch. And that is saying something.
COME ON - You don't love to see Teddy B rip it up?! I agree though - I didn't even watch the game. NHL all star game is pretty much the same thing. Either put a significant meaning to it or let it go all together.
Its terrible and the players should not be expected to tackle hard after a grueling season. No reason to risk injury and waste of time.
I watched until they got their first td's and changed the channel. So boring I couldn't watch it anymore.
Haven't watched it in a few years and even then, I could never sit down and watch a whole game. It's a popularity contest and, like others said, half of the roster is not even there. The players only like it because of the salary bonus and free vacation to Hawaii. I respect the attempt at making it better but it still hasn't helped. All-star games should be removed from the world of sports.
I would much rather watch some entertaining skills competitions rather than the actual game. Some fun head to head competition for throwing the furthest, kicking the furthest, maybe linemen pushing sleds the futhest, etc. Something that shows off the skills of the player without really endangering them or forcing us to watch a boring game. Basically the home run derby translated into football.
Well all Teddy needed to show off his deep ball is no blitzing and no sacking Agree though, this things been circling the drain for a few years now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agree, we would be better off without the ProBowl it is boring, has no significance, super bowl players cannot be involved and the risk of injury is too great. The players have moved past this ritual from a financial, emotional and mental standpoint and we as fans are not interested in watching the result.
They finally made the All-Star game in baseball meaningful. Not sure how you could do that in football. I haven't watched the Pro-Bowl for years either. I'd rather be outside.
Bingo! This is what makes all the all-star weekends exciting, or at least ups the ratings. Basketball and Hockey both have a weekend dedicated to skills challenges, media events, parties... then just kind of play a game afterwards.
Part of the reason why it wont go away. Kind of like Sharknado. Exactly. Been saying this for years. I might actually watch a skills challenge.
They used to do this years ago. They would have the QB's throw as far as they could also they used to throw into nets at different distances worth more points the farther they were. I dont know why they ever stopped that but they need to go back to it. Hell they used to have a tug of war which was fun to watch.
My preferred idea would be to let those voted pro-bowlers compete in skills competitions, but I would like those competitions to not be about their position. I don't want to see QBs throwing the ball or WR catching. We get that all season. Also combine this with the senior bowl players and have a NFL Rookie vs College Prospects matchup. Let the first year NFL players who are still trying to prove themselves go against the current draft class. those would be "kids" who would be trying harder. Other option would since the game is a joke, to reverse rolls. Defense becomes offense, offense becomes defense, or make sure all players are playing out of position. Oline become WR, RB become Lbers, and so forth.
