Ok about a month ago I went to my bow shop to get my strings replaced and they also replaced my loop for my release to grab on and my silencers on my string. When I shoot my practice brodheads it seems like it is always going to the left and it is not shooting strait tried different arrow and still the same. When I shoot my FP strait as can be no problems. What is the deal? Any suggestion thanks Scott
Paul, this may help you. Specifically page 14. http://www.thearcher.com/depot/resourceCentre/completetuningguide.pdf Brett But here is the lowdown: Adjustments sometimes affect more than is expected. It is best to always make the up/down adjustments first. Once the two groups are on the same horizontal plane, then make the left/right adjustments. (See Fig. 20 below.) 1. If the broadheads group above the field points, move the nocking point up. 2. If the broadheads group below the field points, move the nocking point down. 3. If the broadheads group to the left, they are behaving as if the shaft is too stiff (for a right-handed archer). Any, or several, of the following can be done to correct the point of impact. • Increase the poundage on the bow. • Change to heavier broadheads. • If you are using a cushion plunger, decrease the spring tension. • Move the arrow rest or cushion plunger in toward the bow. Make adjustments 1/32" at a time
Brett nailed it with the Easton Tuning chart. I wish all bowhunters had a copy of this. Just remember, if you're sure your arrows are the correct spine then you should proceed to broadhead tuning. You'll pull your hair out trying to BH tune with an improperly spined arrow. Also, remember to "chase your FPs with your BHs." So if you FP hits bullseye and your BH to the left, then move your rest to the right. If your BH hits high then you can move your nocking point up or your rest down (probably easiest to move your rest before messing with your nocking point and "chasing your FPs with your BHs" is only talking about moving the rest). Make sure to make SMALL adjustments. BH left of FP = move rest to right BH right of FP = move rest to left BH high of FP= move rest down BH low of FP = move rest up "Chase your FPs with your BH's"
ok I am kinda new to all of this I understand everything as far as adjustments but when you say Spine Issue it that the fletching (not spinning right) becasue I forgot to mention sometimes when I shoot my practice brodheads they fly straight and sometime they do a twirl. Thanks
Well I am going to go to the local bow shop this week and make sure my bow is in tune and talk to him about my arrow lenghts to make sure they are right and see if I can fix this.
when it says to increase the weight of the tip what is a reasonable amount? (I shoot muzzy 100's right now should I try 125's or go higher
Im with GMMAT on this...if you have centershot lined up, then spine is most likely the issue here...what arrows are you shooting? how many pounds are you pulling? what is the length of your arrow?
Ok I went to another bow shop today and talked to them. well I explained what it was doing and what I was thinking of doing with going to a heaver broadhead well he said let me look at it. Well it was way out of tune. We did a paper test it wow it was way off he adjusted everything and said it will shoot alot better with my broadheads now. I will see tomorrow after work when I shoot them. I am kinda excited lol thanks for all of the imput guys Scott
Just because he papertuned it for you and got it shooting bulletholes doesn't mean you're off the hook. My main goal when getting my bow ready for season is getting the BHs and FPs hitting together. If you were off as much as you said you were and he "fixed" it...then you should be closer to achieving this.
Well I shot my bow today. Man was it way out of site from all the adjustments that where done yesterday. I adjusted and it seems that the field points are flying really good and it seems that my bow is a little quiter too. well the big test of using my practice broadheads and they flew way better that before and they are not spinning like a helicopter. Also yesterday I decided to switch to a new broadhead after doing a little research and after I used my old practice broadhead (to see it everything was fixed) I busted out the new broadheads and I did my final adjustments with that one. I am dead on now and very happy. I then shot my FP and they are pretty close to my broadheads. O and I also stayed with a 100 grain BH too. Everything seems to be alright now. Thanks The problems that I Had was I got my strings replaced about a month ago and the freaken bow shop did not check to make sure everything lined up like my loop for me to grab on to and also my cams where not releasing at the same time and some other minor details that were fixed. Wont be going back to that shop anytime soon. Scott
