I thought I'd share with you some issues I've had with Nockturnals. If you've bought some recently and are using them, I would inspect them if I were you. I just sent an email to Nockturnal about the problems. This is the first time I've ever contacted any company about a product issue. I normally just let it go, but I bought (6) 3-packs and don't have to tell you how much they are. Hopefully they resolve it. I'll let you know how they respond. If you want to know what's up, below is the email I sent Nockturnal along with the pictures of the problems.

Hello. My name is Derek Dirnberger. I own HUNTERSlink.com, an informational website for hunters. I also sell archery products online and through my small shop. I've recently ordered some Nockturnals for a few of my customers and for my personal use. I'm not sure if any of my customers have had an issue with their Nockturnals, but I wanted to let you know of problems I'm experiencing. I've used your nocks before and have never had an issue, but this batch of nockturnals are nothing but problematic for me.

I ordered (4) 3-packs of the G nocks for my Victory VAP arrows. I installed the first 3-pack without any issue other than them being a little tight. The next 3-pack, the first one folded over....maybe a bad apple. The next nock did the same thing and broke off in the arrow. My next thought was "maybe this arrow is slightly tighter than the previous arrows", so I grabbed another arrow and another nock folded over and broke off in my arrow once again. I looked at another nock and noticed it was thicker than the rest as there seems to be dried epoxy on the nock. On the two broken nocks, epoxy began to run out of the end of them. I'm unable to get the broken Nockturnals out of two of my brand new Victory VAP arrows unless I try and drill them out. But, I'm not comfortable drilling them out as I might damage the arrow which could result in injury while shooting them. So...they're wasted.

I've also got a second issue with another set of my arrows...Easton FMJs. I ordered two 3-packs of Nockturnals for these arrows. They installed fine and I went out to shoot. After the first round of shooting, I tried to turn them off with a very small screwdriver (the same one I used to turn Nockturnals off in the past without issue), the first Nockturnal broke as the pin separated from the lower portion. The second one simply wouldn't push up. The third one wouldn't push up. I didn't even try on the other three arrows out of frustration. Upon inspecting these nocks, I noticed that one of the nocks was folding as well (#5 arrow in the picture of the FMJs). This was done while shooting my bow. If the nock would've broke while shooting, it could've resulted in a dry fire, ruining my Obsession Fusion 6, or caused injury.

I would hope that your company will reimburse me for (6) 3-packs purchased through Pape's, as well at the two ruined Victory VAP arrows. I don't want product as I'm not confident in the Nockturnal nocks at this point. I always had good luck with Nockturnal in the past, but at some point in the last two years, quality has drastically decreased.

I've attached pictures of both issues. I appreciate you looking into this and consideration.

Hmm.. I also use nockturnals and bought 3 packs this year. All look fine and installed and work perfectly. I guess you got a bad batch? Hope it works out for you.

I also bought three packs of those in the off season as well. I hope they're not going to have the same issues. I hope you get things squared away and the company lives up to their responsibilities.

    Blessings.........Pastorjim

I have some from 3 years ago that are still working fine, but these new ones have issues and it's two different sizes of them too. I don't know.

WOW... I've used Nockturnals for years w/o any problems.
Sure looks like 'something' went array with the ones you received.

I haven't either. I've used them for years as well but haven't bought any in a couple years until last week. I noticed they changed the look of them a little bit and the quality obviously went down.

I just bought 3 packs of the S size. One pack i got from ****s which had to be different size as they were way too small. Took back and got another pack fit perfect. The other 2 packs i got online and all fit perfect. That was the only issue ive had this year. Im wondering if maybe you got an old batch. I heard they were made better this year than past.

Just bought a 3 pack of green GTs. If anything I thought they were a little loose. I shot them for a couple hours a few days ago and didn't have any issues. Maybe its a problem with a specific size or a batch issue. Is there any identifying marking on packages that would indicate if they are old or new stock?

There was a thread on archery talk about them not flying right so I tested the three in my hunting set(previously unfired) this morning and all seemed fine. Hope they get you sorted out.

I have 6 "S" models from like 3 years ago that fit well and still work as they should.
those were from when Nocturnal produced them.
could this quality control problem have started when Rage got involved ?

The thing is, it's two different sizes are bending/folding. The G nocks for my Victory VAPs are the ones that were folding over trying to install them, and the X nocks for my FMJs which went in fine but I noticed one was bent when looking at them AFTER I had the problem with the other Nocturnals on my VAPs. I've got to imagine these are new ones because I got them directly from Pape's because I'm a dealer. They churn through them like candy.

Yep. I've got some from several years ago that still work perfectly. They're not the right size for my current batch of arrows or I would use them.

I've got a pack of them this year and they seem to work just fine without any issues at all. I did purchase some lumenocks today to try out. They were really tight, and not near as easy to use as the Nockturnals. One of the lumenocks will turn off fine while the other not so much. Without a pair of pliers, you can forget turning it off. Maybe I'm just more familiar with the ease of the Nockturnals. Sucks you got some bad ones. Hopefully they straighten it out. As far as I know Feradyne still owns them as well as Rage, Muzzy, and TruFire.

I know the packs I bought off ebay, lacked this Rage symbol,
then last year or so a Rage emblem started appearing on the packs, quality control should have gone up, but appears the price was the only increase.

The packs I got off ebay this year had the Rage symbol. I couldnt pass up a pack of 3 for I think it was 20 bucks vs 30 most places. So I picked up 3 packs.

I'll probably never buy them again.
Out of the 3 packs I've bought, 2 were dead from the get go , one wouldn't shut off and if you got it to it would just come back on, one snapped and the last one the switch that turns it on came out the back end.
I can find better ways to waste $50.

I have never had a problem with Nockturnals, but it seems a lot of people do.
