At least for me. Was practicing with my broadheads from 30yds and heard the signature sound. At first it I just said f$@& their goes another arrow. Then I saw it and was like oh thats a cool one. The blades of the thunderhead split the fletchings then flowered out the arrow. Very cool. Was glad my girlfriend was there so I had a witness that it was 30yds for my friend.
Those are great arrows IMO. I group extremely well with them and have had the same issue you have just experienced on 2 occasions in 2 weeks. Great shooting and a pretty cool split.
I've never robin hooded an arrow before, but when practicing with broadheads, that's why I shoot at different dots. That's an expensive accomplishment you have there, my friend. :D
Well I bought it at the beginning of july and have been shooting broadheads into this side of it for about the last month. I shoot every morning anywhere from 20-50 arrows per session. It seems to be holding up pretty well even with the heavy broadhead use. The broadheads still lack about 3 inches from getting to the other side even when I shoot the most torn up place on the insert. I believe that this insert will probably last me one more summer before it needs to be replaced. What I absolutely love about it is the multiple targets you have. There is least 10 different spots on 4 of the sides that you can use for aiming points. 9 that you can use on each of the insert sides if you count the green sections. Then on top of this you have 2 sides that are for vitals. This is no replacement for a 3d target though. The vitals are tiny and probably reflect a yearling or younger deer. Nice as far as arrow placement goes but a large 3d target is definitely more realistic. Shooting field tips this target would probably last a very very long time. Probably on the order of 4-6 years, probably longer, depending on your shooting habits and if you keep it out of the weather. Shooting broadheads as I do into the insert you probably looking at about 2 summers for the insert but then you just replace it and go on. No spending another 100+ on another target. If your good at getting your bow broadhead tuned (which I am not) you can just shoot field tips all the time anyway. Overall I love this target. All the aiming points are great. I thought the green was going to be a pain with green pins but it doesn't bother me. I do have green nocks though and they are very hard to see where you hit when you get more than 15yds away. I have used mckenzie targets and block targets and with the amount I have shot this one those would have been destroyed by now. Arrow removal is pretty easy if you can get a hold of the arrow but if you shoot a very tight group and can't it can get tricky. But thats why you have a ton of aiming points. Sorry I rattle on a lot. :p
Thats awesome!! but.. I don't think any robin hood is cool just for the fact that its my arrow. Now if i robin hood my friends arrow that would be cool!!
Oh yeah I know. Shooting from 30 I never thought I would actually do that. I have been struggling lately but the last few times I have been out things have been coming together very nicely. Just in time to. Actually the broadhead and arrow is probably salvageable but, it just looks so cool I'm going to keep it. Luckily its the old style thunder head so comparatively speaking they are cheap.
Thats neat, but are you gonna sacrafice the broadhead and retire it in its current position?? I always shoot different dots with broadhead,,to $$$$
