i know i may be knocked for this one but im not sure i care.

what is all this "pro staff" in hunting? i don't think i understand it. i thought it was all about the sport not the politics. is it because they shoot big racked critters on $5000/hunt ranches? if i had the cash, i could pull it off if i didn't get buck fever.

whats a pro staffer to me?

ANY HUNTER who puts his time in the backwoods, back country, and public ground both scouting and hunting. ANY HUNTER who works his/her @$$ off 8 hours, hurries home and gets his/her gear and heads to the stand. ANY HUNTER who overcomes every type of adversity that can be had in nature, and still lands himself a quality animal. thats a pro staffer to me.

so, why is there such a distinction between who's got the money and who just wants to be in nature?

I consider "Pro Staff" to be a professional person who is employed by the company. I dont think you will find the pro staff here are what youre describing.
Some here may be called pro staff but I consider them just staff. Besides I dont think there are any that hunt for a living, making money by shooting things. Pretty sure we all live to hunt!

Pro Staff = Promotional Staff an individual who promotes a product or a company. Sometimes this equates to nothing more than a moniker to put behind your name, sometimes it's some free items from the Company. In very very rare cases it developes into a career. (see Waddell). But to make a living at it you'ld have better chances at going and playing the lottery.

Pro Staff! That could be me with 6 dead with my first ever Pope & Young! WOOT WOOT! I just love the hunt and love the woods so other than that I really dont care what anyone is refered to. We all love the sport and some just pay for bucks. I rather hunt free range than high fence anyday reguardless of getting a monster or just a doe! They all mean the world to me by even making the kill! It is a way of life and I am living in it and dont want it to end!

My "Prostaff" with wicked1strings is similar to what gr8atta2d was saying. I have a couple obligations to put the title in my sig and help out in their forums. I just have to help out a little with promoting their product but it's not like I'm a slaesman for them. Just pretty much help spread the good word. And for this I get great deals on their product for myself, family and friends.

    I dunno.
I know guys like Dustin (dubbya) and Scott (buckeye) and Justin to name a few, are prostaffers, and lay down some massive deer.
and dont pay money to do it. In fact I am pretty sure some of em come from hunting public land.
    Hmmm.
Maybe Pro's are actually "professionals" for a reason

    Live,

Exactly! I've never hunted with Justin nor Scott (hope to have the pleasure someday). I'll be Dustin's wingman any day of the week! He's no sculptor!

Laying down massive deer is one part of being a complete woodsman. There are many guys on here who have some really unique abilities that I would love to learn (bowmaking, identifying trees, finding obscure food sources, hunting in very hard environments, flint knapping, making knives, hunting with homemade wood bows and arrows,etc.). Those guys are "pro's" in my book when it comes to hunting, 150 inch deer or not on the ground.

Brett, if you have any questions regarding tree identification, please feel free to shoot me a pm. I took a year of Dendrology at school and are familiar with the species of trees in your neck of the woods.

I understand completely, I was merely adressing teh "more money than thou" aspect of the post
I was A basson Amplification, D'andrea, and a few other musical equipment companies "Pro" It really is a promotional gig for the most part

I see a lot of the "Pro Staffers" on websites promote product from other sites and post links to it. I never did understand that when the pro staff
they are on sells the product.

Rockin thank you very much. I have much to learn to be a complete woodsman. I remember you sending me a link one time with some great info. Too bad my kids powerbombed my last laptop and rendered it useless. If I have questions I will surely enlist your help my friend.
