I've got two opportunities to join two teams. I really just don't feel like doing it. I don't know if it's just a funk I'm in or what. I really just want to film my two sons and get the ball rolling for them. While they are young 12 and 7 I think this is what's in my best interest. Any thoughts or guidance for me?

If the interest isn't there, you aren't doing yourself or the company any favors.

It really doesn't matter what we say. It all comes down to whats best for you and your family. Just by reading your post I think you have answered your own question. Its all about the kids and if filming your boys and taking them hunting is what matters to you most then I would probably pass on the prostaff deal. The only thing that might sway me would be if the prostaff position is for and established show or product with a proven track record of success.

They are just two small groups getting off the ground. I don't know if it's just because I've come down from deer hunter mode or what. It's something I've wanted for a long time but now that's it's in my lap I honestly don't want it. Thanks guys.

I would sit on it until spring if possible and see how you feel then.

If its not what you want than move on and pursue different interests (such as your children.)

I used to be all about wanting to get kills on film, trying to find cameramen, thinking being on a pro staff would be the life.

Honestly just a few years later I have no desire to have to hunt for a camera. I only break my camera out during velvet season now.

Scott that is exactly how I feel. I still like to take my camera but generally only do it when I have one of my boys with me. My oldest son is finally starting to want to hunt. My youngest is a different story, I have to put all my gear up where he can't get to it. We were at church the other day and I felt something in his pocket- bottle of mega tarsal gland! Lol
I guess I just want to focus on building the best relationship with them that I can.
I also have two girls but I doubt either one of them will want to hunt.
Its funny how when we something so bad in life and we finally get the opportunity we figure out we don't really want it now.
I value my time at home with my family too much to be traveling across the country hunting.

I think you answered your own question by asking the question. If you had to ask then no it isn't for you. IMO.

    What he said.

For how much work is involved if your heart isn't in it you'll either quit before the season is over or turn in a sub-par product.

Much like judging the size of a buck on the hoof - if you have to ask you're better off passing.

I don't think you'll ever regret putting all the time you can in your kids. However, putting time into some kind of pro staff you don't want to do while NOT spending time with your kids....

Family always comes first and with you starting this thread you are just confirming that in your heart before you tell them sorry, maybe next time. To be on a Pro-Staff you likely have a lot of expectations and effort that would be needed to do a great job for them. Hopefully as time goes on maybe your whole family can get involved in something like that.
